On this site http://www.sport-solutions.co.za/ I see mention of 3 Valke leagues merlin, kestrel and peregrine. Anyone know what they mean or where I can see the fixtures?

It looks like the peregrine one is to qualify for the community cup. What is the community cup anyway?

The Valke is a rugby union in a district in South Africa.

In that district you have a bunch of clubs where amateurs play rugby. In every district teams within that district, teams play a league. The team that wins the league, then qualifies for the Community Cup.

The Community Cup is a tournament which has been started 3 years ago in South Africa. Where the top club teams in the Country play in a knockout tournament. This tournament consists of 16 teams which play in a 4-team pool type tournament where the top 8 teams then go through to the knockout stages. The winning team wins a trophy and some money from SARU.

The main idea of the Community Cup is to get more amateurs to play for their local clubs, with the chance to be seen on tv, and possibly be invited to play at a proffessional union like the Lions, under which the Valke's district falls under.

Thanks! I still want to know what the difference is between those 3.

They are just different clubs. Like in my town, Polokwane, we have 3 clubs, Noordelikes, Police & Dorp. Police mostly consists of players in the Police and Fire Department. Noordelikes are in an older area of the town, and mostly get their players from within the closest suburbs. Dorp, is on the other part of town, and get their players from the suburbs close to their stadium... It's really not rocket science...
