USA news & politics

Ok, I’ll tell you what, even though I disagree that it was a net positive and I certainly disagree it was a morally good action (due to motivation) I will grant it to you. Have you got anything else other than supposedly saving each American tax payer a fraction of a dollar.

You disagree it was a net positive?! 1 dollar is 100% a net positive, there's no disagreeing that lol. But let's move on...

His Jewish hospital Humanitarian award? Infact, standing alongside Rosa Parks and Muhammed Ali in receiving an Ellis Island Award?

To think that Trump has absolutely no idea that he's getting free daily cheerleading and defence from a litter picking Welsh wolf of Wall Street across the pond.

But if you downplay 250k because it's insignificant to the taxpayer, you wouldn't make issue of him taking an extra 250k as a bonus no?

Mate just look at the lengths your going to, to avoid saying 'yes, saving 250k is a net benefit for the USA'.

You know, moral or not that it is 100% a net benefit, the same way you helping homeless shelter is a net benefit to those homeless people, regardless of whether you managed to get laid or not (did you? ;) )
Does that cover the cost of his military parade?

And I'd acknowledge that was typed in error, he has had a number of businesses go bankrupt, which a lot of millionaire and billionaires do, it's a decent tool.

Hmmm decent isn't the word I would use given that people or businesses filing for bankruptcy often do so to get away with paying debts which often puts others of business. Effective might be more apt.

Well it's obviously debatable isn't it as you'd have to weigh it up against everything that has had a negative effect as well, for example, @Ragey Erasmus already pointed out his extravagant security details costs which far exceeded any other president as far as I’m aware. That doesn’t sound great for the tax payer. Certainly not a net positive especially when you’re talking about a poultry few hundred grand.

But none of this was really my point.

I mean we could add up Bidens vs Trump time away vs cost per trip, we wouldn't get an accurate number, but Bidens Deleware trips were lambasted as extravagant, not to mention the number of them alone, nearly doubling Trumps from Pres 1.

I'd say costs weren't all that different, especially when you consider some of the most expensive international trips Biden took were record breakers, the Irish trip specifically nearly cripple the country. Ireland were forced to cover 30 mill in security alone, I dread to think what the Americans had to.

The only real comparison I could find was Trump vs Obama, and Trump spent I think 233 mill (projected)to Obamas 97 mill bit numbers are near impossible, both sides publish stupid numbers to suit their team.

Then Trump managed to get a free plane worth 400 mill for the USA, so I think he's coming out on top lol

Your right though, we are in the weeds, purely because I was trying to highlight the effort your going to to deny a single easily approval fact, that Trump saving 250k is a net benefit to the USA.

But to move on, I've recently been told that mainstream opinion of illegal immigration is growing further toward the government opinion, and that the IPSOS study shows 66% of Americans want illegal immigrants deported.

I was told by a MAGA supporter, that this study highlights that most Americans want the laws upheld, and it isn't about racism, because of the stats proving very few Americans want legal immigrants deported, and only 14% believe those brought here as children should be deported.

Some of his arguments made sense, but Republicana and Democrat numbers vary wildly.

The thing that got to me was the lean toward deportations. I thought after Obama America didnt have a taste for it, even Trumps first term it was more about stopping the flow and not removals.

This shows 84% agree to deportations in some form or another, 32% totally, 52% is some cases.

Where has the new taste come from, and is rioters in LA waving Mexican flags and proclaiming it's their land helping?

As I said, none of this was my point (though I'm pretty sure Trump blows any president out the water with how much he's spent on security) it was about motivations behind actions that make them good or not.

For example, do you think it was a good thing that Jimmy Saville set up charities? I mean, that was a net positive to some kids, right?
