The USA Eagles lost again this WC to Japan... A lot of fans are pointing at coach, Mike Tolkin. Do you think canning Todd Clever and rotating the squad was a smart move by Tolkin? Do you think with a coach like Mike Friday ( USA 7s coach ) we could have won a few more games in this RWC? Thoughts?

I think they're being harsh on the eagles... the expectations were out of touch with reality tbf.. Weakest opposition they faced was Samoa, who are undoubtedly favorites against the Eagles.. could they have snatched 1 win ? yes; but it would've been a huge upset imho. They should've started criticizing when Eagles were awful against Uruguay.. an encounter that they should've dominated by all means.. instead they are angry now that they failed to beat the odds ?

But yes they need a new coach.. preferably someone who has experience in coaching one of the top leagues.

The USA aren't going to get far whilst their rugby team is made up of NFL rejects.

This.

USA rugby need to be targeting players in college/High school.

Not after college.

They need to look at getting a top scrum coach like Fiji and Japan both did as that made a huge difference.

They need to sort out what the hell is going to happen domestically in terms of leagues.

Fuk it USA should go after Nick Mallet.

Do they even have that many american football rejects though?
I was under the impression most of them are 7s specialists

I thought the players individually looked quite good and seem to be good athletes. That's a good first step. The US team seems to lack an identity and the players don't have the highest rugby IQs from what I've seen, at least compared to watching Wales/Ireland in the last few days. They do a little bit of everything but aren't particularly good at one thing. That isn't a bad place to start though and they certainly seem to be improving! They were in a very tough pool where there were no gimmies.

I look at your pool and wonder what chance you have of beating any of those teams. You have a small chance and came as close as you're going to get, sorry there was no way you are better than Samoa, Scotland, Japan and obviously not in the same galaxy as SA. You put in decent performances against them all, maybe fading in the 2nd half to Scotland and SA, but come on, be realistic of your level here and respecting of the level of opposition you're facing.

The coaching staff are fine, manage your expectations better, that's the biggest issue here.
