Unpopular opinion: Argentina deserves a new tour.

Would you like a full Lions tour to Argentina after almost 90 years?

Argentina had been destination of Lions tour often before World War II. They came in 1910, 1927 and 1936.

Argentina had gave rugby a lot since always. Already in the 1950s the competitive level was comparable to Ireland, Scotland or Wales.

Do you think we deserve a new Lions tour?

If the Lions are to keep going I'd prefer a 3 match test of Lions v a SANZAAR select at this point.

This summer will see a Lions tour where Australia are ranked behind three of the Lions nations and between 8 and 10 ranking points (depending on Saturday's result in Dublin) behind one of them. Don't really see the point anymore when there's consistently one or two Lions nations capable of going on their own three game tour to any SH country who are capable of winning. For all of the 20th century and turn of the millenium only England, sporadically, could go and win in SA or NZ. With Ireland and Wales beating Oz in the 70s being the only other times a Lions nation won away in the SH.

A British lions rugby union tour of argentina.
A good idea who's time has come.

Two teams barely ranked above Australia, one of which we beat in November, and the other one we were beaten by. Ireland game could’ve gone either way. Look like they’re on the decline anyway ;)

I have absolutely no interest in the Lions - teams need to tour South America, three tests against Argentina - two midweek games against Uruguay and Chile for an "A" team. Rugby destroying itself again, South America and Europe are the two growth areas of the game. Instead, let's just keep playing the same teams like Cricket 🏏 😒

1. Currently in 2025 because Australia are under performing and a bit rubbish a tour to argentina for the British and Irish lions would be more of a challenge, better & preferable.
But far to late to change things for 2025.

2. Have Argentina replaced Wales on the great top 8 of rugby nations just in the short term or for the long hall?

Hard to answer point 2.

Current in 2025 there are only 4 national rugby union teams that would be a match or more against the British & Lions.

France
New Zealand
South africa
Argentina

In the past you could have added australia instead of argentina.

As things stand I would be happy with the rotation of nations the British & Irish lions play each 4th year to change to
Australia,
New Zealand,
South Africa,
Argentina

So the lions play each of these nations once in a 16 year cycle i.e. 16 years after the British lions last played them over 3 tests.
Instead of playing just Australia, new zealand and south Africa 12 years after the lions last played them.

Or given Australia rugby team slump in form in 2025, even

Argentina
New Zealand,
South Africa,

It was a good idea that France played the British Irish lions in 1989 to celebrate 200 years of the anniversary of the french revolution.

The key to the British lions is that their matches are rare.

End ....

God a tour of France would be good - imagine the club games and visits to all the French towns/cities in the summer.

Won't happen though. France is actually too busy with tourists that time of the year so doubt could accommodate 30-40k Lions fans on top.

Oh now that would be superb
