I think Fitzy has the most talent but he has a number of issues the big one be able to stay fit the other is a fairly low strike rate but I think thats related to the first point, whenever hes played for Ireland it's been coming off injuries. Earls is a good winger and a very good finisher I see him similar to Cuthbert in that his all round game isn't as good but his ability to score tries very handy. Finally Trimble to be honest I don't think hes up to international standard he has always preformed well for Ulster, come in to the Ireland squad and not been at the same level as he was at Ulster.

Will any of them succeed BOD, Fitzy maybe hes getting time there now which will be interesting. The other two should be left on the wing.

Fitzgerald when he can avoid injury is probably the best of them. Has raw talent and nice skills. Earls is a very good athlete. Quick, strong with a nice step and ability to finish and very handy out on the wing. It has been proven he hasn't a centres skills and is unreliable as a defender. Trimble, I don't rate hugely to be honest. He is reliable, sturdy, strong and can out defend Earls but doesn't have the same spark as a wing.
Successor to BOD? Well Earls as I've said doesn't have the skills and Trimble the talent. Unfortunately I can't see Fits staying injury free long enough to nail the spot so we need someone else I think.

I'd vote for Earls at international level, Trimble at provincial level, and believe it would take a pretty big sea change for any of them to become O'Driscoll's successor.
