Jonny Wilkinson's Toulon missed out on the Top 14 play-offs after slumping to a dismal 20-3 defeat to Montpellier at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir on Saturday afternoon.

I blame Wilkinson, Henjak and van Niekerk.

hahahaha i like it ;)

If Gav had started, they would have won ;) ;) Just shows that money can't buy you a winning team :p (yes pot calling the kettle black being an ospreys supporter, but still i Know we've been ****! :D ) Gav for welsh 12 :D

Nah, montpellier were just better, wanted it more. The Toulon pack just got steamrolled... The captain Oueadraogo was back from injury, all the players were pumped up and the staduim was full...Great game. I think we're gonna lose in Castres though, not sure we've got another game in the tank.

Succesful season though, fist play offs ever and first H Cup qualification for the club...A great season all in all. Galthie and Bechu have really turned this side up...

Why is there a picture of Bobo at the start of the topic. An upcoming transfer :)

That's the image that's in the article (as the article talks about all of the matches from this round, including Racing Metro vs Stade Francais)

Got to agree, from the clips I have seen of the game, Toulon were very poor and Montpellier very good.

This. Is. Hilarious.

While I do owe Toulon a debt of gratitude for dispatching the Turnips, it's good for rugby to see them fall on their faces. Shows that money still isn't everything. The contrast between the two clubs is huge in that respect. Fair play Montpellier.

Yeah, Montpellier dominated at the breakdown and Ouadraogo played excellently. Never thought much of him until that match honestly.

Toulon should walk the Amlin next season.

Ouedraogo is very, very good. He's the true successor to Olivier Magne. He's only effective behind a massive tight 5 though...

People don't rate him in France because he's not 110 kg and doesn't punch holes in the defense but he's a superb support runner, has a phenomenal work rate, and is quite good defensively as well.

happy to see such a huge money team like toulon get a wake up call. just goes to show you cant buy success

The last I saw of him until this match was v Australia, where the French backrow was nonexistent. I'd love/hate to see a backrow of Ouedraogo, Dusautoir and Harinodroquy.
Very impressive display.

As far as Toulon goes, I think of them as almost a Barbarians team; great players but almost thrown together with no real cohesion.

I hope this isn't surprising to anyone because the league is incredibly tough. Montpellier have proven so much this season and they deserve to be in the playoffs more than Toulon. They proved that on the pitch as well. I'm also happy to see Biarritz there of course, but they have a tough match against Clermont coming up. I would love to see Biarritz v Toulouse and Montpellier v Racing in the next round.

Its right up there with Man City missing out on the Champions League last year. Very funny. Fantastic achievement from Montpellier.

Montpellier beat Castres away in a 1 point victory and progress to the Semis where they will face racing metro in Marseille...WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!
