Sale Sharks have been hit by the news that flanker Kris Chesney will not be joining them and has decided to remain at French side Toulon instead.

Chesney, 37, had verbally agreed to join the Premiership side on a two-year deal earlier this month.

Executive director of sport Steve Diamond said: "I was clearly told by the agent and the player verbally that he agreed to join us.

"I have now been told that the player had agreed to stay at Toulon."

He added: "It's a lack of integrity from the player.

"I knew the player and thought he could have done a job for us, but it's not to be.

"It's not an embarrassment to the club, it's an embarrassment to the player.

"I know he's embarrassed and I've wished him well with the extra money that (Toulon director of rugby) Philippe Saint-Andre will pay him."

Not fussed at all, didn't see why we were signing a 68yr old guy for a position we have relative depth in anyway

Steve Diamond said that if he gets a chance (i.e if he has money left or if a deal goes through) the first name at the top of his list to sign is Ben Cohen,
Here's hoping this falling through means we can keep him an extra season :D
