I don't mean to brag, but I'd just like to share a few comments about tonight's epic. I thought we played minimalist ball, but played it perfectly and really we beat Clermont at that game as well and were just simply better than them at that. You look at François Trinh-Duc, you look at Ben Fall, and you wonder if PSA literally has shiit in his eyes. Like, an actual excrement sitting atop his big nose, blocking his vision. Brock James' will was unbending and his foot knew no fear, but the Clutch Money Time award goes straight to our very own FTD, no mistake about it. Our tighthead, Nicolas Mas seems to have found some form back. But Domingo too. It was the first time I'd seen these two go (quite literally) head to head. Domingo had arguments in the scrum, and won two brilliant TO balls. But about that, again, how the fk do you not pick Benjamin Fall ?? You put Le Bourhis, a center, or Médard, a past-his-prime fullback when you have Ben Fall, yeah ? Tackles like a maniac, even wins TO ball, tall, strong, good in the air, athletic, world class pace, and good experience at this point he's not a rookie anymore. Jonathan Davies was powerful ball in hand, strong carrier, but lost the ball constantly. Fofana wasn't bad, but didn't look quite at home. Vahaamahina is one serious client to put down when he's got the ball as decides to charge in. Chouly is one heck of a backrower. And Fritz Lee was huge. Oh and the Clermont bench added some punch, but just not enough. It should be said Clermont played just too restrictively, and yes our defense was excellent but they're just not what they used to be... I thought it was too good to be true, and the arms of trepidation would close down on us as they seem to always do, but then this ray of light, of Montypellierain magical light just could not be shunned, and like a dream detonating, exploding onto the structures of reality with marvel and gayness and making it shine like never before in the middle of Marcel Michelin... we'd won. We'd beaten the ASM Clermont in the volcano.
