anyone think a welsh can do well in the heineken, if so who has best chance?

I don't think so

Ospreys and Scarlets have the best shout, probably Ospreys a bit more as Scarlets are a bit plagued with injuries atm (though I think Priestland is coming back this weekend?)

Don't think either will win though, but one or both could make it to the knockouts, then who knows what might happen?
Then again they're not exactly in easy groups, with Saints and Munster in one and Biarritz and Saracens in the other, with Treviso and Castres not likely to roll over and take it either!

The short answer is no. I don't think they will be able to beat the better Irish, French and English teams, but when it goes to the knock out stages you never know.

Having watched Scarlets Vs Ospreys at the weekend I just can't see it. As for who would may go further tough call maybe Ospreys.

I guess we will all have a better idea after the first round this weekend. I am keen to see how the Blues get on as a whole over the season, they seem to be making lots of noise at the moment, links to Henry, Shaun Edwards etc. It will be fun to see how the orange one gets on with Roberts and co as well.

Cardiff may be a dark horse, especially if they can win all their home matches.

The welsh regions suffer more than anyone with international commitments with the average Welsh international only playing about 8 times for their region during this season and that doesn't take into consideration injuries. Hard to see how they can compete with all their best players, injured, playing Australia or in a polish freezer.

With all their stars back, the Blues could do well. But untill they sort out the problems they have at 3 and 10, they'll loose the close matches against top opposition imo. Henson could be an answer at 10, possibly...

The Ospreys will have a decent chance as always. Their home record in Europe is second to none (6 years since they lost at the Liberty), winning the home games always gives every team a chance of making the quarters. But after that, I think they're lacking in a couple of positions to go all the way, namely at fullback, while they lack creativity in the centre.

The Scarlets could be dark horses, but it all depends on how their forwards hold up. They went well against a strong Ospreys pack last week, which is a good sign, but the HC is always a step-up. They've got a great backline though, ehich contains big strike runners such as North, Davies and Lamont. Given enough posetion and territory, these guys will cause damage to every team in the competition. Hugely tough group though.

I basically refuse to believe Cardiff can do well, on account of them being Ulster's *****es.

All of them would be outside shots, the internationals will return on a high but there seems to be too much restructuring at all the regions. QFs at most.

Looking at the groups, Scarlets are probably going nowhere. With a bit of luck they could ambush Munster though. But I think even if they do, Northampton are going through in first, and the rest of the group will suffocate each other.

Cardiff's group is there for the taking, both Irish and Edinburgh are eminently beatable and last I checked Racing Metro are nothing special.

Ospreys I'm not sure about, Biarritz are no great shakes but will **** people up at home, whether Sarries can translate things into Europe is unknown - if they can, abandon all hope. Likewise, Treviso could be easy points, or they could continue their improve and **** people's **** up.

Being cold, I think Group 4 should throw up a runner-up, and pools 6 and 2 are the next favourite. Simply going by measuring the weakest team.
