from the ***le most will guess what I'm going to say for those who do not i will explain.

Shane Williams , honestly one of my favorite players of all time ( and IMO one of the best wingers of our time ) , will be retiring very soon . this will leave a gap in the welsh squad in the number 11 shirt , who will fill his space ? and also as a side note who is the welsh fullback going to be ? ( halfpenny i think )

who in your opinion deserves the spot ?
maybe a halfpenny on the wing and some one else at fullback ?
anyways i would like to know what everyone thinks and their opinions on some young welsh players .

thanks

Shane is also my very favorite player. George North is a nailed-on starter on the wing, and I'd like to see Halfpenny continue at 15, hopefully with somebody like Will Harries or Richard Fussell magically turning themselves into a Shane-alike over time, as both clearly have 'Shaneisms' in their game- Influences in the way they avoid contact and step, although I think Morgan Stoddart is a more obvious and present answer to the 11 shirt's desire to be filled. That or somebody (Please) talking Shane out of retirement...

it will be a sad day when he goes but wales have the talent to replace him with a good winger (maybe not world class like he was)

however talking of welsh wingers where the jesus did tom prydie go?

I think someone said in another thread, recently, that he picked up a pretty bad injury last season which put him out for a while

He's back playing in the Welsh Prem (Neath? Swansea? Can't remember which) at the moment - presumably to build him up before going back into the Pro12 at some point (next LV= round, maybe?)

Will Harries is one of those players I always thought and hoped would make it to the top of the tree. He has all the talent in the world but is missing that "something" to make him kick on.

And I mean more then just a shitty Northampton then a shitty Newport team to fall back on.

Well he looked to have kicked on when he was playing well at the Dragons and got called up for Wales. He played very well when given the chance against NZ. Unfortunately he was shoehorned in at fullback for much of last season when Martyn Thomas was out injured, then picked up a serious injury himself.

Yeah think Harries is out until Christmas time at least, am a big fan of his so hope he can make his way back into the Wales squad! On Prydie, think I heard something about him picking up a hat trick for Swansea in the 34 - 34 draw they had with Neath a week or two ago. Not too shabby I guess, would like to see him make the step back to Ospreys duty soon!

Also have Wales A got any fixtures coming up? Got announced ages ago but havent heard anything about them actually planning to play any games yet! Would be a great chance to see more potential replacements for Shane getting game time at a decent international level!

Harries is back in full training, should be playing in about three weeks.
Hopefully the new wing competition will drive him to up his game.
What really messed him up was being shifted to 15 due to Thomas' injury.
I'd like to see Harries on one wing and Poole on the other.

thoughts on stoddard at fullback and halfpenny taking Shanes spot ?
No thanks. Morgan's defence has improved but he is better on the wing. Halfpenny is better in the tackle and with his boot.
I would certainly give Morgan more time on the wing though.

so do you think if morgan plays as well as he did before his little injury he has a chance in the welsh squad ?

also who is poole ? i can't think of who he is or who he plays for ( curious as he has the same last name as myself )

Absolutely. Great runner and a tough player to stop.
Michael Poole plays wing for us and Newport RFC. Decent-sized lad but out with a knee ligament injury. Looked good prior to his injury.
I also believe it is illegal to talk about Mike Poole without mentioning that he was a cage-fighter.

how long until mogs is back ? not exactly been keeping up with rugby for a year until the WC started

No clue. He said he was going for a scan a few weeks back but that's I've heard.
I'd expect him to miss the Six Nations but be inline for a callup for the Aussie tour.

I remember watching him before (possibly debut for Scarlets?) - He knows how to deal with tacklers  Someone tried to tackle him on the wing and he basically threw him into the stands

Mike made a massive hit on some Russian player in the preseason, perhaps illegal but he wasn't called for it.
Poole is a skinny lad, 1.88m and just over 80kgs. Give him a season or two and he will bulk up.
