The Cipriani Soap Continues

Good.
He acts like a football player anyhow, so may as well actually be one.
Will be interesting to see if he can actually get out of the contract though (though having said that, the wage he'd be getting playing football would be 10x what he'd be getting playing rugger, so they could probably pay his way out of the contract, and still have enough left over to pay him 14 bajillion pounds a year)

Having actually had the privilege of playing alongside Cipriani at the Wasps, I can say he is an amazing player, a bit of an ego, but he actually plays football quite a lot during training. He is pretty good I must say. The thing I would be interested in is how he will do in the contact area, as he is fairly big for a footballer, being in the region of 90kg, which I suppose is considered big for football. Like most flyhalfs though, they all tend to play football in their youth or still play during their professional career, I know Daniel Carter still plays football and was given a warning for playing during off-season.

Pro athletes tend to be gifted sportmen in general. Schalk Burger had the choice of signing professionally for rugby or cricket when he came out of high school. Much like AB de Villiers, who chose a pro career in cricket over rugby (he was a scrum-half BTW).

On Cipriani, there is no place for an ego like his in rugby, literally and figuratively. You ALWAYS get your ass handed to you on the field when players target you, he just keeps painting the target on his back bigger and bigger. Not only that, drama like this is useless for rugby as a sport.

I feel sorry for him tbh - and as most people on here probably won't have any experience of being in his shoes they should probably stop insulting him.

I'll never be president of the United States, but i still took the p*ss out of George Bush

You played with him at Wasps? :S
I did hear Carter is a decent footballer, I remember hearing that in the week before New Zealand played Portugal in the World Cup, him and some of the other All Blacks who were going to be rested played a game of football against the Portugese squad. Portugal won 2 - 1 i think :p.

Love the name dropping on this thread ... I played with him ... etc

Hmm ... did we once not have another member who claimed to have been at Wasps.

From what I know there are two other Wasps players who post here.

did you play rugby for the london wasps or something? or something developmental? that'd be pretty cool.

I hope he goes playing soccer so we don't have to be hearing about him 24/7. You'd think hes as good as Dan Carter because of all the attention he gets.

Telegraph said:
Danny Cipriani has dismissed reports that he was considering a new career in football and undertaking a trial at Premier League club Fulham instead of joining the Melbourne Rebels in the Super 15 next season.
A spokesman for the former Wasps player said: "Danny is still joining Melbourne and the conversation with Fulham FC was with regard to him using their gym and facilities only, as it is close to where he lives, to keep fit until he goes to Melbourne. He is not changing sports."

Settles that one then
