I play outhalf and I can be a bit of an O'Gara on the tackling. It's not that I don't have the technique when I hit someone properly I always get them down but it comes and goes one day I could make about 10-15 tackles a game and get them all. Then the next day I play I would miss about 3 quaters of them. Has anyone had the same sort of problems and how did you overcome them? Thanks in advance for any advice.

exercise some sort of technique that you are entirely comfortable with , and if you feel that the tackle won't stop them it's always better to try as you may slow them down for your team to compensate . going into a tackle hard will usually hurt yourself less and be more effective at taking/slowing down your opponent .
Tackling isn't my expertise really , i tend to be the one trying to get of of an opponents reach , but i have large feet and get ankle tapped ohh so often . much help as i can give :/

Confidence perhaps? Maybe do not focus on getting fancy tackles...at the end of the story as long as the player is either stopped or down on the floor, whatever you did worked.

this is not meant to be insulting but if someone runs straight at you you fall over and try and take you with the which sometimes leads to you getting bosched als on other occaisions you have a tendency to fall to ground too quickly and give them a slight tap on the ankles i think you are thinking too much about it just go for it i'm not a great tackler myself but as a prop i usually go pillar which usually involves assisting people in falling over

Your problem sounds mental to me and if so thats easy to fix. You just have to turn up to the game more passionate to defend. You have to really want to bring the opposition down.

You say theres nothing wrong with your technique and thats why Ive come to this conclusion. Your probably like so many others just want to attack but not so keen to get in to the tackle. Just keep going in with your technique and more determination, you still may miss some at first but after a short while you'll get it sussed.
