Super 15: Rebels - Stormers in Melbourne (03-06-2011)
AAMI Park, Melbourne (03-06-2011, 10:35 GMT)
The Stormers will be aiming to finish their New Zealand and Australian tour on a high and secure their spot at the top of the South African conference, ahead of the Sharks and the late surging Bulls. They face a Rebels team that has just come off a bye after a rather demoralizing tour of South Africa, where they were thrashed by both the Bulls and the Cheetahs. The Rebels will certainly be happy to be back at home in Melbourne, where they managed to cause several upsets earlier in the season.
Rebels - 15 Richard Kingi, 14 Lachlan Mitchell, 13 Mark Gerrard, 12 Stirling Mortlock (c), 11 Cooper Vuna, 10 Julian Huxley, 9 Nick Phipps, 8 Gareth Delve, 7 Michael Lipman, 6 Jarrod Saffy, 5 Hugh Pyle, 4 Alister Campbell, 3 Laurie Weeks, 2 Ged Robinson, 1 Nic Henderson.
Subs: 16 Adam Freier, 17 Greg Somerville, 18 Kevin O'Neill, 19 Tim Davidson, 20 Sam Cordingley, 21 Peter Betham, 22 Afusipa Taumoepeau.
Stormers – 15 Conrad Jantjes, 14 Gio Aplon, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Jean de Villiers, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Kurt Coleman, 9 Ricky Januarie, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Francois Louw, 6 Schalk Burger (c), 5 Anton van Zyl, 4 Rynhardt Elstadt, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Tiaan Liebenberg, 1 Wicus Blaauw
Subs: 16 Deon Fourie, 17 Frans Malherbe, 18 Andries Bekker 19 Nick Koster, 20 Louis Schreuder, 21 Earl Rose, 22 Juan de Jongh.
The Rebels have again left out Dan Cipriani, with Julian Huxley gain given the job of running the team from first-five. Despite dropping Greg Sommerville to the bench, the Rebels forward pack remain competitive, with Ged Robinson, Hugh Pyle, and Gareth Delve all having strong season. Without Cipriani at 10 the backline lacks a bit of spark, but individually the likes of Cooper Vuna, Mark Gerrard, and Richard Kingi can break a game open with their dangerous running.
The Stormers have chosen to rest Andries Bekker, with Anton van Zyl given the start at lock. Tian Liebenberg gets the start at hooker, and Duane Vermeulen is reinstated in the Number 8 jersey, after being given a rest last weekend. Kurt Coleman gets another chance in the Stormers 10 jersey, with Earl Rose brought onto the bench as cover. de Villers and Fourie are reunited in the midfield, and are sure to ask a lot of question of the Rebels defense.
