I don'y know a whole lot about steroids really and I am just wondering how prevalent the use of banned substances are in both professional and amateur rugby.

On a personal note one of my friends knew a guy who grew a proper set of ***s from using testosterone..what with the oestrogen balancing it out and all...

Ahaaa! That's superb!

At a pro level there'll be none of it around because of the drugs testing (Karena Wihongi got banned for four months for using a "performance enhancing supplement" which was just one ingredient in a lucozade type drink, which he took by accident)

I seem to remember a few semi-pro Rugby League players copping lengthy bans for using steroids

Not worth it at the end of the day, just work harder in the gym, and a have a johnson that's not all shriveled

Nice ***s they were too apparently...

Ah I have a few stories from Dublin schools rugby of guys boosting , and apparently a few would be using in Welsh premier club rugby .

Suppose it depends at which level they start testing - I know of a few *insert derogatory term here* back home that juice and think they're really 'ard for doing so
I would imagine they'd test in the Welsh prem though

I dont think its worth it in rugby. I can see why you would in the NFL because bigger is always better, but you dont really need that freakish size in rugby. You can reach peak physical rugby state fairly easily just by eating well and hitting the gym.

There's always stories lurking around that players in the Welsh setup and Welsh regions / academies etc are on the juice in the off season and then go clean during the season. Again these are stories that you often hear, dunno how true they are.
