[TEXTAREA]Steffon Armitage is to join Toulon after being granted an early release from his London Irish contract.

The flanker, 25, has already agreed a two-year deal at the French club, where he will link up with fellow England squad member Jonny Wilkinson.[/TEXTAREA]

Good move for him I think he will be suited to the game down there....Personally one of my favorite players in the premiership.

Idd a great player, saw him play the opening game of the Aviva championship in September.

Would he count as a foreign Player or has he done enough time in country in his youth to be considered a French national.
Great player though

I presume foreign as he's capped by England?
Not sure if it works like that though...

That was what I was thinking wasnt sure if it same there. I know he has English cap but is same rules apply for Top14 as ML and Aviva.

good move for steffon
just a bit of a cufuffel with leeds in there attempt to get fourie who would be a great replacment

It will be a good test for Armitage to see if he can play in the different style of rugby that is Top 14 Rugby.

Toby Booth said he won't release Armitage until he has a replacement sorted, so I reckon Fourie is a done deal, as much as Leeds don't want him to be

I agree, Leeds are desperate to hold onto him, but they know full well he won't want to play second tier rugby next year because of his England prospects. Even if the Cornish Pirates beat Worcester, I think he'll still leave.

An ok replacement for George Smith. Best of luck to him; bad luck to Irish for losing him.
