Souths v Leeds - A Big Success

I dunno...there are a hell of a lot of British ex-pats in Florida...most of them from the North of England so filling a 10,000 seater stadium isn't exactly a huge herculean task. All the League action in America seems to take place further north which lends further weight to the evidence that most of these fans attending the game are British ex-pats.

Now, if you get a sell out in a part of America which isn't flooded with British ex-pats in a stadium bigger than that of Sixways then it'd be a big success.

A good start, no doubt about that, but don't count (or hype) your chickens before they're hatched.

Whilst I understand what you're saying, it clearly was a big success:

a crowd of 12,000 helped set an attendance record at Hodges Stadium, which has an official capacity of 10,000, and bought up all of the $39,000 in merchandise Souths were able to get through Customs.[/b]

All sports would consider that to be a big success for a new venture in a relatively unknown market but because it's RL then obviously the crowd was entirely made up of ex-pats from the north of England.

its interesting but rugby league will never overtake rugby union in the states or Canada. On the bright side my brother and I love the sport. I am absolutely in love with the NRL. My bro whois a union player such as myself recently just took up League after he moved to Australia and he thoroughly enjoys it. Sent me a Cowboys jersey and ball in the mail just a few weeks ago.

The USA Tomahawks vs AUstralia a few years ago was a fairly decent success as well.

The only problem was that they played on AstroTurf, which as you could imagine, gave everyone nasty little carpet burns everywhere.
