So no Scots in the test team then?

Now that Murray, Ford, Hines and Blair have been selected midweek do you think that shows they're out of contention?

Hines is definitely - Played out of position and would not be considered for 3 game sin one week.

Blair was always unlikely after the first game, though others have had the chance to redeem themselves.

Both Murray and Ford have had limited game time. I assume Murray is being discriminated due to his supposedly inferior work in the loose, and Ford for his poor lineout throwing (which is no worse than Rees' I should add. Not suggesting national bias but...)

So my bitter rant is over now, I will still support the Lions, but I am angry Murray hasn't had the chance to prove himself on tour until it is too late.

As a side note; before the tour many were suggesting the Lions would have the edge at the scrum, but seeing as the likely front row is Vickery, Mears and Jenkins that isn't really the case anymore.

Jenkins, Mears and Vickery have been the best players in their respective positions so far. Anyone who disagrees is deluded, to be honest; though I grant you that Murray definately deserved another chance. Vickery seems to be guaranteed a spot now, after Rowntree's post-game comments on Saturday.
Blair was also treated harshly, though he'd only be competing for a bench spot imo.

I dont think anyone was treated harshly, just the limited amount of games doesnt allow for equal treatment.

I wouldnt rule out Murray yet. You could well see him coming off at half time, or getting a good 30 mins in the test itself.

How I'd love to see that. I still think however Sheridan will get the nod just because he's called Sheridan.

It's a little known fact that in SA the mere name Sheridan causes the likes of Spies, Botha and De Villiers to turn to jelly, their brains in shock at the mere mention of his name.

Unfortunately, the effect wears off after the first scrum when they realise he is not a prop.

Murray IMO looks like he is struggling for fitness and perhaps has built himself up too much. Quite similar to what Jason Leonard did after his neck injury. The scrum is still the most important job for a prop but Murray hasnt shown he is superior to Vickery there so his lack of work rate was always going to be an issue.

When he came on against the Golden lions the first scrum went 5 metres. Against Western Province he won two penalties, and if Vickery had done that we'd be talking about how he won the game.

Look Murray has been over hyped by the media after the AI`s. Its not his fault but he is not really Lions test match material when he cant get about the park. He is a good solid scrummager but nothing else. DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!

All the GP players are over hyped, it's nothing new.

The less said about the <strike>purgatory</strike> <strike>Watered down ****</strike> Magners league, the better...

Indeed. No question that the players in that league are light years ahead, though.

Sorry, but the fact that Geech the other coaches and the captain will select Vickery proves he is the form tight head on the tour. I appreciate that you are a Nothampton fan and you want your players to do well but petty club and country rivalries go out of the window during a Lions tour.

Yes, I am a Northampton fan. Well spotted. I am however also a rugby fan and know full well the difference between a quality player (e.g. D'arcy) missing out because of another players mates in the management (e.g. Flutey). And as I LIONS fan I want to see the best players in those positions. Phil Vickery is not the best player for the number 3 shirt.

Vickery is a liability. He cannot scrum for **** (nor has been able to for a long-long-LONG time), is a liability to give away stupid penalties at the breakdown, is a cheat (see: Trip on paul emmick during 2007 world cup), will more then likely end up in the bin during the test and is being shown preferential treatment because of his friendship with Rowntree, McGeechan and Edwards.

Plus the Tour management still have the hump over him missing their corporate jolly the Monday before the European cup finals weekend.

Watch some more rugby before harping on utter ******** like he's "struggling for fitness" has a "lack of work rate" or "being overhyped". The fact he dismantled every opposite number he went again in the 6 nations and AIs, combined with week-in, week-out sublime performances for said club which luckily give me a slight authority on this point of view, proves this.

I totally agree with Mite...i watched him when he was at Glasgow years ago and he was absolutely destroying people in the scrum. Look at what happened in the AIs, he made the "Beast" look like a 12 year old and he won man of the match. Not bad for someone who is "not as good as Vickery"...
