On a 3 year contract.

http://www.lequipe.fr/Rugby/breves2011/20110127_205044_skrela-a-clermont.html

It begs a few questions:
1. Is it wise giving a 3 year deal to a player who'll be 35 at the end of the contract?
2. Is Brock James leaving Clermont?
3. Who will Toulouse sign?

Carter, Sexton, Giteau, Cooper, Barnes and Beauxis are all off contract too. Toulouse have to finances to pay for any of them.

Is Skrela that old. But Toulouse will be rebuilding and I'm sure a big name will be on the horizon

They want Beauxis. The biggest problem is not the SO though, it's Jauzion. He's gonna retire after the WC and those boots are hard to fill. Neither Fritz nor David has the profile of 12 that Toulouse needs. That being said, there's only one Jauzion so Noves will have to vastly modify his playing style...I can see them targetting Trinh Duc to have him play 10/12.

But has Trinh-Duc not signed an extended contract at Montpellier?

Yes he has. But it's Toulouse we're talking about...Hard to resist when they want you. You can find better money at Toulon or racing, but there's not better staff and squad than Toulouse in Europe.

True, they're the standard bearers in European rugby. As a Leinster fan, getting to a stage where Munster were no longer seen as being superior on the field was an aspiration. Now that that has been achieved, getting to a stage where Leinster are as successful on and off the field as Toulouse is the next step. Leinster are getting there slowly. Leicester and Clermont Auverge are primed to reach that level too with Toulon, Racing Metro, Stade Francais, Northampton and Munster a step behind.

Gosh, imagine a Toulouse backline being orchestrated by Danny Carter. That'd be something special.

They better keep their greasy mitts of Johnny Sex though. If he doesn't stay at Leinster the IRFU should hang their heads in shame.

Saw also that TLS had sent a proposal to Mc Allister, credible for you ?

Kelleher seemed to be voluntary for another year when Président Bouscatel told him that his contract would be signed again at the end of the season, Skrela leaving, and Michalak still uncertain for next year

Can't believe all this mess in order to build something around Beauxis...moreover as I don't feel his game style and skills suiting to TLS' game.

It's almost a certainty that he's heading back up north next season,
Toulouse and Bath seem to be most likely

Skrela going to Clermont is great news for Toulouse and bad news for Clermont.

Toulouse are targetting three players: Lionel Beauxis, Dan Carter and Matt Giteau. I think Giteau will play for Stade Français and Carter for Toulouse. With Hook off to Perpignan I can´t see Carter going too... should he return to Europe which some are questioning.

The club has resigned players coming off contract like Dusautoir, Albacete and Vergallo. They need new wingers. Heymans and Clerc are really getting on now. Caucau should be in the Pro d2 and Delasau is not who he was 3 or 4 years ago. Clerc is the youngest of these players and will be 30 in a few months. Were it be Alexis Palisson would be targetted.

Clermont have three flyhalves and now with Skrela four. Hard to understand why they wanted him. Makes no sense at all. They have already signed Ignacio Rodríguez Muedra who is a definite future Pumas flyhalf. With Brock James and Lavea there too I am scratching my head.

Lavea has proven to be kak (which everybody with an ounce of brains knew anyway), they need someguy to restBrock James and still be competitive. Brock James has played every T14 game of the season so far. That's just too much. However, I don't think Skrela is the guy they needed...

What?? This is going to be a major loss for toulouse, but I'm sure that they'll replace him soon enough

They are after Sexton, Carter or Cooper. However they are gonna have to put out the big $$ and that's something new for them. Until now, the prestige and the certainty of playing (and winning ) finals on a regular basis was enough to lure th best players in, but since the arrival of Toulon and Racing things have changed. Moreover, SH players don't have a clue about Toulouse and don't give a rats arse about the prestige etc... (there are of course exceptions).

**** off!!!!

Why would anyone be talking about taking Sexton when they could get Cooper/ Giteau etc? Anyhow, Skrela is and always has been a crock of shite. No loss for them, no gain for Clermont.

Ah Skrela, will always be remembered by me when he conspired to drop kick it 5 yeards behind him during th 2008 GS game
