Reasonable article. https://www.rugbyworld.com/news/can-scotland-u20s-calamity-convince-sru-its-time-for-radical-reform-156403 In response to this result Townsend says: "I am an optimist and always have been about Scottish rugby in terms of the numbers game. We have less numbers compared to 14 other countries that play rugby in the world, but that work in our favour, because can get more alignment and see our players coming through." https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/23682478.gregor-townsend-scotland-player-development-uruguay-defeat/ It seems somebody needs to check the population of Uruguay (2 million less than Scotland) and join the dots between the role a union can play in increasing playing population. In short, I do not expect any measure from the Scottish union to increase/diversify development of youths outside of the current limited geographic and socio-economic because of mentalities like those of Townsend. Its almost as if the union thinks expanding uptake of the sport and identification of talent is someone else's responsibility.
