Scarlets sign Pumas secondrower

Good signing if you ask me. I'd prefer the lumpier Carizza, but he's a pretty solid addition to the Scarlet's utter lack of second row talent.

Carizza would have been a better signing. I'm not sure Vallejos is the style of lock the Scarlets should have signed as Draggs has noticed he's not the type of lock who offers grunt up front, he's okay, but nothing spectacular and hasn't been starting much for Quins over the second half of the season.

Amusing that the Scarlets were linked to tonnes of locks this season such as Manuel Carizza, Ian Evans, Joe Tuineau, Jason Eaton, Brad Mika, yet sign a player who was barely mentioned at all.

Surely this should be in the Pro 12 section?

Carizza, who's contract has ended, is not among the "runners and riders" announced as the Biarritz squad for the 2012/13 season..............................................

Any news on Manuel Carizza? Planet Rugby have him listed as moving to Scarlets, do they know something we don't?

Planet Rugby and their bunch of copy and paste "journalists". I have a good idea where they've copied that article from.

If you look at the lists of players, they are exactly the same as the article on Rugbyrama, the only thing Planet Rugby has done is translated some of the French words (e.g. retraite) in the text.

As for the news on Carizza there is nothing that we haven't heard already. It almost certainly won't happen now Tomás Vallejos has signed, they have Earle, Vallejos, Timani and also Lewis Rawlins who has signed from Cross Keys. If the Scarlets do sign another lock, I can't imagine it will be an international as that would mean four non Welsh qualified players (although Earle is a project player) in one position.

There's not a lot of shame in finding it difficult to get starts at Quins. The problem is/was that him and Robson was a very lightweight second row, so one of them was always getting dropped for Kohn when he came back in. Robson is a very good 5, so is Vallejos. Many a Quins fan would rather he stayed. Quins have three recent England U20 locks milling around the place however, so an international's wage for a squad player who won't be around all season is very hard to justify.

Maybe not exactly the player Scarlets needed, but a useful one nevertheless.

Not a problem bru, moved to Pro12.
Thanks for the information, I've seen your article on numerous websites now!

Very nice. Diolch yn fawr

Word on the street is Carizza has been approached by an Australian Super Rugby side and a possible move to Racing Métro. I don´t know more than that besides the fact that the UAR will sign him as a professional if he returns.

Indeed, planet rugby as a source is about as bad as the site´ forum.

I agree 100%. Vallejos is not a heavyweight secondrower unlike Carizza. Leaving the Quins is continuing the trend of Pumas players. Tuculet is the same. Many have said they have left England due to the rule of foreigners in the starting XV. Even Camacho, for instance, said his move to Exeter had a lot to do with guaranteeing himself mroe game time. This frmo a guy who was the Quins starting winger.

I'm happy with this signing. Possibly could have been a little better but I won't turn my nose up at an international second row with enough experience. Best of luck Tomas:)

Anyone else think he looks like Kelly Brown but with smaller eyebrows? lol
