They are desperate for your money. As such, they get lured into the trap if you promise them the money and get as scammed as you would!
There was one guy, he was nigerian doing a 419 and he contacted a church. Unfortunately for him, it was a scambaiter and he ended cutting a deal with the same person twice (as another scammer pretending he hacked the church account) and ended up getting a tattoo with some logo on it, which of course he paid for. PWNED!
Just be careful, it is possible if you don't look out that you could get comeback if they ever found out who you are..
