Sale Sharks have announced that they will move to the Salford City Stadium this summer in time for the 2012/13 Aviva Premiership Rugby season. The club will leave their home of the past nine seasons, Edgeley Park in Stockport, to share the brand new 12,000 capacity stadium with Salford City Reds Rugby League Club.

The Sharks have signed a twenty five year lease (with a review period after 5 seasons) and will begin life at their new home ground in August 2012 with a high profile friendly against current European Champions Leinster. The Blue Square Premiership football club Stockport County will continue to play all their home games at the Sharks' current ground Edgeley Park, which both clubs currently share.

A lot of people aren't happy about this, but I'm very happy. EP was a dump, and this Stadium, though a bit "cookie cutter" will be much better. Apparently there are a few transport issues at the moment, but hopefully they get ironed out over the coming months.

Also, we get to kick it off by smashing Leinster, what could be better? :p

Brother at uni there is already planning the Sale away game if we come up

Stockport County must be gutted? With their financial woes and all.

Look forward to seeing Sale play there.

SCFC are actually ecstatic - they've never wanted Sale there, and now with us gone, and as sole tenants, they get all revenue etc. straight to them, and have more opportunity for conferences/renting out parts/whatever.

That looks very nice and for a few months of the year the place is all Sale's.

What are the transport connections to this place? Looks very well planned like the Sixways' transformation into a regional park & ride nexus for Worcestershire.

Dunno if this will be good i did quite like Edgeley park but it doesn't really effect me as i don't support wales
