I think we have a chance, which is more than I thought three days ago. But a lot has to go our way. I want the winner to come from this QF anyway. Sexton and Henshaw (at 12) back is absolutely huge. I doubt Carty and Farrell would get a start in an NZ super rugby team, Sexton and Henshaw have the ability to be the best player in the world in their position and both have been for at least one international block in this world cup cycle. We need our carriers to carry smart again, lately the footwork has been fairly non existent and the tip on passes have been given at the wrong time, there was some improvement v Samoa but Healy's and Henderson's footwork was very much lacking, Stander's too but I'm not sure if be ever had it to be honest. Our defence is strong, we kept Japan to one try when they got BPs in every other game and have been one of the more clinical sides in the tournament and outside that game we conceded 8 points, 5 of which were during a period of play where I'm pretty sure Conor Murray thought he was Samoan. Keep this a low scoring affair and we could nick it. To win though we'd need at least as good a performance as Dublin last year or be as good as we were in the first half in Twickenham in 2018 for at least 60 minutes. The team have about 100 minutes of rugby this year that would give them any confidence of playing at that level so it's definitely a massive ask, and against a perfectly rested New Zealand who'll not only want to beat us but embarrass us I won't be putting anything but hope on the result, I'm less confident than before the 2016 game where we were 23 point underdogs. I think this win will give either side a good enough confidence boost to nudge them past England though, with a couple of added factors helping either team - NZ because they seem to take it personally when a team who hasn't beaten them in ages talks about winning a world cup and Ireland because the chance of getting beaten three times in a row by an evenly matched side is massive motivation to win, you just have to look at the Dublin match this year - If either comes to pass I'd then think NZ would want Wales and Ireland would want SA in a final. **** it... Ireland by 10.
