Hi! I will try to talk about the events taking place in the Russian rugby and answer questions that may arise.

Sorry for my mediocre English.

I did not notice that would be on this forum had a similar discussion.

In the spring of 2015 happens to historical Russian rugby event!

Russian club will participate in the qualifying tournament of the Challenge Cup.

http://rugbyonline.ru/i/middle/5491a94495774.jpg

17.01.2015, Round 1

Group A "Calvisano" Italy - "Viadana" Italy
Group B. "Mogliano" Italy - Portugal

01.24.2015, Round 2

Group A. "Viadana" Italy - "El Salvador" Spain
Group B. Portugal - "Yenisei-STM" Russia

04.04.2015, Round 3

Group A. "El Salvador" Spain - "Calvisano" Spain
Group B. "Yenisei-STM" Russia - "Mogliano" Italy

Unfortunately no one knows where the game will be "Yenisei-STM" in Russia.

Krasnoyarsk - is 4,000 kilometers from Moscow to the east, and in fact to Moscow, too, you ought to get.

I think that the match will be held in Sochi, known for aproshedshey Winter Olympics and the match will be a few hundred spectators.:(

Great to have somebody here posting news about Russian rugby!

Welcome to the forum Vladimir.

I'll contribute with some news: Russia has sacked head coach Raphaël Saint-André, he will be replaced by Alexander Pervukhin, former coach of Russian champions Enisey-STM.

Yes, it happened. In my opinion the problem of the Russian national team coach can not, you can put Steve Hansen and he will not achieve anything with our team.

The problem is lack of funding, lack of interest in rugby among young people, weak interest of the audience, the absence of normal specialists.

Russia has not got to England not because of the head coach.

It is said that Saint - Andre remain coach at -konsultantom Federation, but it is not known exactly.

Personally, I am to him with respect.

Pasha Baronovsky presented me with the Russian Rugby tie. Great honor, that was.

Thanks for kicking off a thread, Vlad. Hopefully, you will cover the women's 7s NT, as well.

BTW, too many T2/T3 countries try to develop the players' skill sets and rugby nous first. Russia could prevent the problems that come with that route by focusing on developing coaching skills and knowledge first, instead of players. Nothing spells player retention like solid coaching.

Women's Rugby 7's and nuclear physics is what I have no idea)))

I only know that it plays much better men's teams of Russia in Rugby 7's and 15.

In the last stage in Dubai, Russia took 8th place, and Maria Petrova hit the Dream Team Dubai 7's.

We also have released a calendar of the Russian national rugby 7 's.

With regard to the development of rugby in Russia, our coaches go to various workshops in arranging IRB, but unfortunately the results are not visible.

No development, there is degradation.

There's already a Russian Rugby thread which was posted by white bear, But he disappeared and I have no idea what happened to him. But I'm glad that you came to give us some updates, so thanks for that! :)

It's unfortunate that they just missed out off this years world cup, I can't remember his name but there was one Russian player who really caught my eye, I'm sure he was a number 8 ? and he played good in the 2011 Rugby world cup

Vasily Artemyev was a decent winger for Northampton?

Grants right alot of it comes down to coaching. :)

Yes, Basil is a good player. Now he plays the team from Krasnoyarsk "Krasny Yar".

In my opinion, he strongly handed over to the times when he played for the "Saints" ...

I will try to replace him))) :)

I think you mean Denis Simplikevich, on account of his try to Australia and Ireland.

He has a lot of injuries and he rarely plays in the team.

In general, it can be found in the Russian national rugby 7s.

no the number 8 though that player try against Ireland was impressive, don't see that happening to Irish defence very much I actually found him, his name is Victor Gresev In the world cup he was a strong ball runner and good in defence as well.

I forgot all about him, he now plays more №6. Playing for the "Krasny Yar" in Krasnoyarsk with Artemyev.

He also played in the Rugby 7s for Russia.

He's a bit of time spent in the "Wasps" together with Victor Korshunov.

Gresev is a decent player, but a little bit out of fit since 2-3 seasons IMO..
With his club he plays openside flanker, the regular starter at number 8 is the moldovan Oleg Prepelita, a real try machine. Prepelita's stats
2013 : Krasny Yar : 18 games, 12 tries - Moldova : 5 games, 4 tries
2014 : Krasny Yar : 13 games, 8 tries - Moldova : 4 games, 10 tries !

Gresev still one of the best russian players

Oh, if he still did not get older!

In Russia, the holidays until January 12, so I'm a little drunk.

You know what it means to wait when your team gets the World Cup after 24 years?

Right now we are again passed by and then I'll wait another 4 years.

In 1987, the Soviet Union had been invited to the first World Cup, but the Communists refused to say that they will not play with the South African racists.

It was all a lie!

In fact, there was no money that would send a team to the World Cup.

There was no ****ing $ 50,000 that would send a team to the championship.

Since then everything went wrong.

The next time the team got to the championship in 2011.

We have much to Russian in the sport! We became the world champion or Europe in almost all sports, but such terrible failures as rugby was not anywhere.

Well, except for degenerative football team I guess.

Maybe the reason is that rugby in the USSR began to develop only since the early 70's, I do not know.

But I believe that if not for our generation, but the following will be in the top ten of world rugby.

Can not be that we would not have embarked on the right path.

This is 1962.

And I hope that the Russian will play great rugby.

So far not started the championship I can meet the team.

The third force in the Russian team VVA Monino Moscow region.

Now, thanks to contacts with the team from England it is called BBA - Saracens and is a new form.

Initially, the colors were red and blue.

Now the "pilots" are often invited to the island to play 7s, two times they went to London and once in Ireland.

I hope that will be invited to play in the 15.

BBA multiple champion of the USSR and Russia,

1969, 1971, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1993, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.

Was founded in 1967. One of the oldest and most renowned clubs in Russia.

And as the only club in Russia who has an English version of their site)))

http://www.vvasaracens.com/

Sergey Sekisov
Vitaly Zhivatov
German Davydov
Mikhail Babayev
Ilya Demushkin

called to the national team for the last tests with Hong Kong.

In addition to them a few more experienced players in the team played with Uruguay and Zimbabwe, the participants of the World Championship in 2011 Voitov Alexander, Alexander and Vladislav Korshunov Yanyushkin.
