reminds me of how how Scotland can perform (at times) despite not having a large player base. Also goes to show it's not about quantity but quality.

oh ye of little faith. Don't forgert we managed to field almost 2 entirely different teams in our warm up games and both managed to win (sssh don't mention who the opposition were) but a win is a win as they say....

I'd say, probably bad. The way I'd interpret it is, there aren't many people taking up the game when they're young, so players in the peak age for athletic performance (mid to late 20's) have had far less experience and less time to develop.

Still, the number is probably a bit disputable, because it looks like they're trying to give you an idea of how many registered players were available for selection to the senior national team. The number is probably in theory more than what's displayed, since there's nothing stopping them from calling up a teenager who's never played a senior-level match before (as an extreme example) but it's reasonably accurate.

There is a ridiculous amount of little clubs in England though; The village where I'm from, it takes 25mins to drive to the nearest Asda, yet there are 6 rugby teams within a 15minute drive

Amazing how Georgia have less than 900 senior male players yet they are at such a high level, just think about when more take up the sport.
