http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/11795478/British-tourist-dies-from-whiplash-after-being-hit-by-wave-in-France.html I was so sorry to hear that Rob Walton the head coach of Rugby Lions lost his life when hit by a freak wave. I know Labenne very well and was there on Friday last. It would never occur to me to go swimming in the sea anywhere from Bayonne to probably Bordeaux due to the number of deaths, mostly surfers, suffered along this coast. It is not known as Europe's surfing capital (by those outside of Cornwall) for nothing and the waves and currents can be very dangerous. However, the French authorities are pretty hot on this with their flag system and am surprised by this sad death on a supervised beach. Maybe as the article points out there are other circumstances involved? Rip and condolences to his poor family at the loss of this young Father.
