Right this is my new series on the untold sports of Britain... The stories from the pubs...
Skittles
Right I am not talking about the sweets, I will get that out the way from the start!!!
There are two key types of Skittles, Table and Alley Based...
I play the Alley Based game for 3 teams, in 3 different leagues, it is mainly a westcountry sport but there are different variations of the game across Britain.
I will explain the game I play:
At the bottom of the alley there is 9 pins arranged in a square shape, each turn starts with all the skittles standing and consists of three throws down the alley. If all the pins are knocked down, then they are all reset. So the maximum score in one turn is 27. Over the course of a game, each player of a team has 6 turns.
The winner of the game is the team who has the highest score, total number of pins knocked over, however some can be based on the number of hands (all the players turn) you win.
