Hi guys,

As I'm currently traveling a lot, I'm having the idea of buying an HTC phone. An iPhone is a bit to expensive ( especially with the rumors of an Iphone 5 being released this summer).

I'm looking for a phone with Android and as it will be my first HTC I'm curious about your experiences.

Cheers

I just came off a 24 month contract and assumed I'd go straight for HTC Desire. Looks like anything android is preferable to apple.

But I'm sticking with mobile + laptop + dongle when I'm on the road - rolling monthly contract. The reason I don't go for HTC yet is I'm not sure tethering with the laptop will give me a decent internet connection.

Ideally I want smartphone + bluetooth roll-up keyboard to replace phone/laptop/dongle. My excuse is I do need the full keyboard. Technology isn't there yet, so far as I can see.

I could be missing the point!

Hey Belgian... You do remember my phone right? When I came to Belgium? It's the HTC Desire HD. Might be a bit too big with a 4,3 inch screen but otherwise, have a look at the HTCIncredible S (4 inch) or the HTC Desire S (3,7 inch)

The new android Motorola phone acts like a PC (can plug in a monitor and the such if you want) - could be worth looking into

Hi Dutchie, yes, yes...
My brother in law has the HTC wildfire and quiet happy about it.
For the moment I have a superb cheap o contract so need to check their store first. Maybe a noob question but what's the difference between a regular model and the S variant.

How do you know since he's not saying anything about it? ;)

HTC Wildfire is nice but a lot smaller than the Desire (S). If you want a nice smartphone with a big enough screen but not too big, you should go for the Desire.

There are several types:

- HTC Desire S
A 3,7 inch screen
- HTC Desire Z
Same as the Desire S, but it has a physical keyboard, in case you are not happy with typing on a touch screen
- HTC Desire HD
This one has a relatively bigger screen (4,3 inch) and is the best pick when you look at highest details: Processor speed, memory and, unfortunately, price

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of getting a new smartphone when my contract runs out as well. For data allowance it seems on most contracts it is either 500mb or 1gb. How much is that? having never had a smartphone I don't know how much that would actually allow you to browse the internet before you run out.

For just browsing the net I've never hit my 500mb data allowance, and while term is on I do use it a fair bit when I'm bored in between lectures and the such
I use the wifi on it when I can though, so that takes my usage down a bit but as I said, I don't really get anywhere near - for example, last month I used 42mb, and the month before I used 37mb

I mainly use it for going on tapatalk (for on here) or using the facebook and gmail apps - the rest of the time I have the GPRS turned off (though looking at my usage I might as well leave it on all the time)

If you are only surfing pages then you'd imagine 500mb would do you fine, if your streaming media, music, TV etc then go woth 1gb. I'd stay away from any kind of limits myself.

As for phones. Any andriod is a fine phone. My wife has the HTC Desire HD, I have the Google/Samsung Nexus. Both excellent phones.

Cheers, but watching movies etc... is not what i will use it for as the screen is too small anyway.

I've got a HTC 7 Mozart, great piece of kit, really is. I'm personally very pleased with the Windows Phone 7 operating system on it, and prefer it to Android. It may not be fully customisable like Android, but it's just such a well put together and rounded OS. It's biggest weakness, and something I don't understand is it's lack of support for removable storage. Strange decision! It does get around this by having excellent syncing capabilities. I use my phone as an mp3 player, and coming down from 24GB storage space on my old phone (LG Arena with 8GB internal and 16GB mSD card) to 8GB on my new phone was a little worrying at first, but it was easy to set up 5 smart DJ playlists in Zune which automatically updates the content every week + then wirelessly syncs the playlists to my phone = fresh new music every week without touching anything.

The one thing I'd warn about HTC phones, and all smartphones is battery life. With normal usage, i.e. a couple of phone calls, a few texts, and a few games; I will generally get around 36 hours use, this is with WiFi and GPS etc. all turned on (not bluetooth). This means charging every night is a must. However speaking to a mate today with a HTC Desire HD, he says with similar usage his phone never lasts a full day. The bigger screen probably makes a difference there.

hey i bought new htc droid incredible 2 it's great phone but now i m stuck with it cause it's not working with my old car kit so i also bought new car kit for my htc droid incredible2 but still i m facing same thing. so is there problem with my phone and should i go to check my phone, can any one help with it.?

GiffGaff that is all :p (for network) £10 a month for unlimited texts, unlimited internet ( no limits) and 250 minutes :) as for HTC phones as i was on a budget I got the Wildfire S its good at what it does tbh, but imo go for a desire (kinda wish I did)
