Scot Parks in drink-drive charge
Scotland international rugby player Dan Parks has been arrested on an alleged drink driving charge.
Parks has been withdrawn from his club Glasgow Warriors' squad for Saturday's Magners League match against Leinster.
"At 0335 on Sunday 19 April a 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with an alleged drink driving offence on the M8 motorway," said Strathclyde Police.
"The alleged offence happened near Newhouse, and he is expected at Airdrie Sheriff Court at a later date."
Parks, 30, has played 47 times for Scotland but was absent from the recent Six Nations campaign.
His club said in a statement: "Glasgow Warriors can confirm that it is conducting an internal investigation into the conduct of one of its players."
The Australian-born stand-off joined Glasgow in 2003 from Plymouth Albion.
This season he has faced competition for his place in the coach Sean Lineen's team from Ruaridh Jackson.
And he could only make an appearance form the bench in last week's narrow 19-20 defeat at the hands of Ulster.
Glasgow currently sit fifth in the Magners League, 10 points behind Saturday's opponents Leinster.
