Can anyone tell me anything about this player (Onosai Auva'a)?

Sale Sharks have just signed him until September as cover for Hendre Fourie, but I can't find a lot of info about him apart from he won a gold medal in 2006 for NZ 7s at the Commonwealth!

I've put this in the ITM as I noticed he wasn't in the 2011 Blues Super XV squad, but played in the ITM for Auckland

He was a very good sevens player, but he's a pretty average XV's player. He has plenty of pace (he would probably be as quick as most backs), but lacks the physicality that is required to be a top class loose-forward. He played a few season's for the Blues (largely as the bench player/ watching from the stands), but he didn't really manage to establish himself at Super Rugby level. He's actually bulked up a bit lately (he's apparently over 100kg now) and has been playing a bit of 6 as well as 7. He is an ok player, and is still pretty young (only 26), but I do worry about his lack of physicality (however if Sale play an expansive game he could be quite valuable ;) )

Sounds good to me - I think he'll be playing a mixture of 6 and 7, off of the bench, as we literally have three back rows atm, and then a hooker on the bench as cover :p
Sounds like he'd fit in, as at the moment our 6 is pretty lightweight, and the team looks to play expansive rugby rather than keeping it tight
Not sure exactly when he's arriving, but looking forward to see what he can do

Cheers! :D

He can play physically occasionally and has improved in the are. He can put in a decent hit every now and then and is great on the deck in the pilfer. His biggest weakness thus far is decision making and deciding which rucks to commit to.

Not a superstar, but very handy to have around

He's an alright player not a star but he played some good games for Auckland in the Npc and Itm cup. He didn't really establish himself as a Super Rugby player thou he played a few seasons for the Blues. Had good potential back in 2007 was even touted as being one of the next big opensides, but injuries have held him back and lack of playing time held him back.

He had a knee reconstruction (ACL) just after the 2010 ITM cup competition which is why he was unavailable for selection in the super rugby competition for 2011. He is a team man, having been voted team man of the year several times in the past few years by the players in both the Auckland Blues and Auckland ITM team.
He is fit, strong and eager to get some game time with the Sale Sharks and finally be given a chance.
He's one to watch.

He got 10mins on the weekend vs Exeter, off the bench as an 8
Did well behind a scrum going backwards, especially considering it's not his main position
Started in the 'A' League last night at 6, not sure how he went though - Interested to see him get a proper run out, apparently he's going very well in training
