Could we see the Ospreys going to Neath and having a look at Tom James ... one can only hope so.
Neath aren't associated with the Ospreys anymore, are they?
Thank f*** for that.
Second! Now where's our next Kiwi scrum half?
Bay of Plenty will be happy to have an experienced player like him back. If Tanelia Moa is included in the Tongan RWC squad (which is possibly, despite him not being included in the initial 50-man squad), Nutbrown will likely start for BOP, otherwise he will be useful off the bench backing up Moa.
Im not sure if Nutbrown is assured even a bench spot really. Jason Spice is playing in the BOP at the moment along with 3 other very talented young halfbacks. Nutbrown is experienced, but was never really that great of a player.
While I agree Nutbrown was never a great player, he had a number of good seasons for BOP from around 2006 till the time he left in 2008 (he was even selected in the Junior All Blacks in 2006). No idea how well Jason Spice is playing, but I would have thought a 29 year-old Jamie Nutbrown would be more valuable than a 36 year-old Jason Spice. In any case, both could be very important mentors to the younger halfbacks coming through. Given BOP lack a quality first-five (with Delany set to leave) I wouldn't be surprised to see Moa play a bit of the season at 10 (possibly with Nutbrown inside him), as the other first-fives options in the region (Noakes, Waenga, McCashin) hardly inspire confidence, and Phil Burleigh is much better suited to second-five...
Colin Bourke (semi-serious as well....)I agree that Moa looks to be the best option at 1st, but then there are no goal kickers on the field. BOP would be wise to use Lewis Hancock at 9 in that case due to his goal kicking prowess. I also think that with the traditionally slower pace the BOP play they could put a solid distributer and defender like Waenga at 10 and run the attack through the experienced Spice. I dont know i just have an irrational dislike of Nutbrown.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of Nutbrown either, but I don't think BOP would have signed him on a 3-year contract if they didn't see him fitting into their match-day 22 (at least initially in any case). It will be interesting to see how Chris Noakes goes at 10 if he gets a chance. He's dominated Club Rugby in Dunedin for years, but has always failed to step up for Otago, despite his clear talent... perhaps a change of scenery may help.
