Just out of interest does anyone know what the Minimum Standards Criteria is for Premiership Rugby?

Interesting fact - If Bath, Saracens, Irish, Wasps or Sale were relegated, they would not meet the criteria to regain promotion. Bath because the rec isn't up to scratch, the rest because they don't own their stadia/aren't primary tenants.

Sale do own Edgeley Park and are main tenants - though I think that EP isn't up to premiership standards anyway, so Sale couldn't go back up if they were relegated (can't remember for what reason, it's got 10k seats so must be something else)

Can't seem to find anything for this... its mentioned but I guess the criteria isn't public knowledge?

Because Sale have to move their fixtures to accomidate Stockport, they're not considered the primary tennants in the eyes of the PRL.

Really?
But it's owned by Cheshire Sports, the business name of Sale Sharks/Brian Kennedy, SCFC are just the tenants :S

Strange!

Did he not kick out Stockport County FC from the club shop also once he bought the stadium? Stockport's shop then moved round the corner into the old groundsman's hut

Something like that
SCFC fans are pr*cks anyway - swearing/spitting at Sale fans, attacking them etc. - sooner Sale move out of EP the better

I think the reasoning is more to do with the FA not being flexible then Kennedy.

According to Exe Chief Exec "The criteria document is an awesome one", there are things like having exact urinal spacings in there. The gulf in money is far larger than the playing quality throughout the top two leagues, I would fancy Pirates or Bedford having a decent run at the Premiership. Championship clubs get 8% of what Premiership clubs recieve from the centre and even if they do go up they dont get all the money until they have been there a while. Championship clubs are p'ed off but there isnt much they can do, Bath is usually cited as the example, if they came down (at some point) and couldnt get their stadium sorted (its taken long enough already) what would RFU/PRL do? Not many can believe that an accomodation wouldnt be made in that case!

That's simple... Whenever Bath look like they're in trouble with a chance of relegation, the mafia start talking about ringfencing the league to be on the safe side. SImples.

As for the "parachute payments wah wah wah" we all hear from the Championship sides... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Yep, sounds very similar to 'salary cap wah wah wah.'

I know how much you love the parachute Bullitt! See image of the average championship season in honour!
