French international Frédéric Michalak will announce his decision whether or not to stay at Toulouse on a radio show on Wednesday.

Biarritz president Serge Blanco said that his club won't sign Michalak. I bet he may end up playing for a smaller club in France.

I think he will head off down South somewhere. Its a pity because he's a player with so much talent.

Saints should sign him. Just for shits and giggles.

He is an explosive talent, mercurial as well, ,maybe the Rebels or Force should look into picking him up, he is always entertaining and well help put bums in the seats.

The Hurricanes could use him as well, but I doubt they'll sign him

No thanks, Beuden will be ready to step up by next year. I dont think the NZRU would spring for an overseas player of that caliber either, i cant see him coming to NZ

That boy needs to pack on some muscle, how's he as a goal kicker?

Barrett next year, Cruden this year, Kirkpatrick was supposed to be ready a couple of years ago...

Everyone is so quick to label a young guy the next big thing.

Hurricanes should go after Matt Berquirst...he's steady and much more reliable then Cruden,Kirkpatrick.

Hurricanes need to stick with a fly half, and stay with them. It's all right saying that Barrett is going to be the next big thing, but in a position like fly half, it takes a lot of game time to mature. Since 2008 the Canes have had Gopperth, Ripia, Kirkpatrick, Cruden and now Barrett all being selected and dropped. They need to pick one, and develop him. It may come at the expense of a good season, but it's the only way you can develop a promising player, into a good one.

I think they need to start with a new coach.

They said the same about Mehrtens and Larkham.. Regardless he has the genes, his brother and dad are massive. Hes a pretty handy goal kicker; not amazing enough to base his selection on, but not bad enough to prevent it either.

I think Barrett's different and i'll tell you why:
When you look at the guys that have been touted in the past, they all have one thing in common; Fireworks. All these guys
(Kirkpatrick, Cruden, Anscombe, Renata etc) are seen obnoxiously wrecking defenses, you can watch them play schoolboy/age grade rugby and they stick out with the outrageous plays they pull off.
Barrett on the other hand has nothing flash about his game, no steps, no flick or kick passes. He just makes great decisions, plays high percentage rugby and takes a gap if he gets one. Theres something very Conrad Smith/Larkham about his play and linebreaking.
That kind of game just seems to translate to higher level rugby at an earlier age for me. Everyone else has to adjust to not being the best player on the field anymore, they dont know how to use the players around them as weapons as they have always been the number 1 option, they also have to completely remodel their game because half thei crazy-magic plays wont work in professional rugby. Barretts game doesn't have to change at all.

I still maintain that Cruden could be better one day if hes managed well, its just that Barrett looks like he could step up as early as next season. I dont beleive its a case of bandwagon jumping at all.

I'd say Kirkpatrick was exactly like that too.

I'd say you have your players mixed up..
I personally saw Kirkpatrick running a fantastic one man show for Napier boys vs NPBHS back in the day. All game he just made use of the skip pass and wrap to get some space in the midfield, then blitzed everyone with crazy steps and dished with the no look passes to open wingers. I have it on tape actually.
I can't actually think of a player who has developed that kind of clinical game at such a young age, besides Conrad Smith who was well out of school before he got noticed.
