Metal Gear online

Do any of you guys play this? I promised myself I wouldnt play games online because theyre so addictive and time consuming. But, my curiosity got the better of me when I realised all I had to do was stick my net plug in my ps3 and playing would cost me $0.

I having an absolute blast, but being a "noob" I dont like the abuse I get. I joined games that said noobs are welcome and still get abused. Im up to level 3 but still suck. Ive been kicked twice for killing my own team mates. One of my team mates shot at me by mistake so I thought he was an enemy and CQCd him and killed him. The other time a guy ran in front of me while I was shooting and copped a head shot.

That aside, this really is a fun game to play, great controls and game variety and looks great. Some of the maps are a bit tricky. I was playiing on a real cool middle east town style map with a sandstorm in it. It was an awsome map, but Ive only played on it once and since then havent seen it again. I tried to find it in traing or creating my own game, but its not there? Its not midtown malestrom, but similar, with lots of rooftop action and a sandstorm. Loved it.

Does anyone still play this ?

I haven't played online games for a while due to my computer being bust; I've been stuck on a laptop for 7 months... But yeh, you'll get abused online on any game to be honest; it's all about finding the right servers.
Best thing you can do is get better and let your ownage do the talking.

Thought as much. Right, let the ownage begin! Seriously though, I dont know how these guys do it, I unload and entire clip into there back and they just turn around and swat me like a fly.

So Im guessing theres not many TRF guys playing metal gear online. Is this due to net speed or lack of interest? I love that its third person and I can watch my own back! but this must be a bit more graphically demanding.

The whole empting a clip into the guys back and then getting owned is the problem lol it is all about headshots=ownage.

Sounds good. Ive been playing most evenings. Maybe wednesday onwards this week. Im not in NZ im in Japan, dont know if that helps! Im starting to get the hang of sweeping head shots. I have good games and bad games. I dont come last anymore which is good!

How does Metal Gear work online? Is it like the Splinter Cell commandos v spys or what?

Its like counter strike but 3rd person.(you can switch to FPS down the barrel aiming and still move around slowly. ) You can play stealth games in which you are all invisible (stealth camo) unless you get spotted. I dont like this. I prefer team death match. 16 players. two teams and a map thats not too small is awsome. Theres heaps of game modes like capture bases or capture and protect a item/flag and also control points like battlefield. One cool one is that each team has to set bombs in certain zones and then try to hold off the other team until detonation while the other team has to defuse it. Im a noob so I stick mainly to simple death matches to avoid abuse.

There only seem to be three good maps. I did manage to play a futher two really cool ones, but they have since vanished from availablity for no apparent reason which is really annoying.

You create your players look before you start, the options are limited so basically you end up with guys that look like military or special forces. You can use reward points to buy new clothes online. So It doesnt seem that much like Metal gear but has the great controls, animations graphics and particle effects, explosions blood etc. There was one game I joined where the objective was to kill snake. I never saw him, I didnt really get what was going on, but I did get zapped by his little mini scout robot thingy.

Great fun. Want the cool maps back.

Sorry bud I should have been more clear register in this forum there is a "PSN names Thread" pinned at the top. Strange that we cant hook up online as have joined with GG, Woosah, Radman etc.

Yeah its ceejay. I searched for your name and it says player cannot be found. Strange. Ive played against people from all over, America, Spain, France, Aussie, italy. This is a bit strange. I be playing tonight so Ill have another crack at it.

Playing more and more online and it is a great game. Not for the FPS fan but it is that well done that I would be suprised if somebody did not enjoy it.

For me this is by far the best game I have ever played on single player or Multi player. Single player is amazing and so well put together from the cut scenes to the game play it never stops blowing me away.

I played Unchartered the other night after all the hype about how good the gameplay is and the graphics but Metal Gear makes it look amatuer in comparison.

is your name case sensitive or anything?

I love the over the shoulder aiming and how you can switch shoulders in an instant.pure class. The way your player runs walks and sneaks and shoots all looks so cool.

Im thinking about doing the sp again and owning the bots!!

can't agree more it is so so well done. Just a small example is the map with the mortar and the mounted guns is class and taking charge of the mortar and pumping loads of them in on the others is awesome.

I dont think case sensitivity affects the PSN search, but mine is all lower case I think. If not then just the first letter C would be capital.

Not to forget the CQC(close quarter combat) is awesome I don't think there is any better. Absolutley love the porno mags you place on the floor and when the guy walks past crouches down to have a gander(its like a mine he cant shake out of it for a minute or so) he knows you coming but cant do a thing ha ha..... he is now ****** off that he got caught by it. I then walk up behind him get him in a choke hold slowly throttle him until he is unconsious and then stand there salute him, pull out my gun and pop a round in his head.

Where is that map!!?? I played it once but now its not available for me! what the hell? I jumped on the mortar and got a bullet straight to the head lol. The mags are fun, haven caught anyone yet but have benn caught in plenty. If you see them on the floor then you can shoot them away. When Im chokng someone I usually get capped by their team mate cause it take so long!

Dam if that is the case it is pretty sh*t. Any way will keep entering and hopefully catch up soon. The mag is awesome man never stops making me laugh. Choking a guy does not take long at all for me how strange. Do you hold it down or press and release? As that takes a while longer.

That map comes up quiet often for me. You can only stay on the mortar for a short time before receiving a bullet to the nut lol but still great to watch.

Those maps are for the expansion pack. But Ive played all of them and I dont have the expansion! do you?
