Well it's been the worst kept secret for god knows how long but for the next 4 years the Magners League will be shown live on RTÉ and TG4. Still no details though on how the deal will be divided up between RTÉ and TG4.

BBC NI has also picked up the rights to Ulster's home matches as well as the away interpros with other away matches available via the red button or online.

BBC Wales and S4C had already announced an extension to their existing deal last year which will be in line with the other deals just agreed.

The deal has also recently been announced where BBC Alba will cover the Edinburgh and Glasgow matches.

Good news, more rugby on TV. However i imagine the quality of the Irish coverage will be crap (on rté anyway).

So is Setanta wrong and please tell me we don't have to listen to commentary in Irish they had this few years ago and it was torture

well it's the worst possible news for Setanta that's for sure. Wonder whether they'll have deferred coverage like they do with the GAA. That's a huge loss to their rugby coverage, wonder whether they'll even hold on to their world cup rights at this stage

of course the commentary will be in Irish, don't be so ignorant. Do you honestly expect an Irish language station to do the coverage in English!

Wow unlucky!!! At least S4C offers the games in Welsh and English now.

whoa there, we're a long way off interactive options in this country, we're barely broadcasting in widescreen so interactive options are a long way off. I just hope RTÉ will get Emmett Byrne and Matt Williams for their coverage cause they've been excellent on Setanta.

I'll be getting a hell of a lot of rugby on my tv, as I have freesat which picks up BBC Wales, BBC ALBA, BBC NI and S4C. :D Good times!
I speak welsh so I've never really bothered using the english language commentary option on S4C - I've heard bad things about it though, that the commentators are very biased apparently. Who usually does the english commentary for S4C anyway? The Welsh language commentators are usually superb - generally unbiased and know their stuff.

Robert Jones if we're lucky. But more usualy, it's Dai Bishop, some chap called Gareth Roberts (Not the one who writes for Doctor Who) and a few guys I've never heard of. Bishop is awful. He once accused a team of not exploting a three-on-one, then said "Oooh, sorry, it's a one-on-one. That's the ref and a touch judge outside him!!" about five minutes later, as there was an injury. He also, during the Munster-Leinster semi, asked for clafification from his co-commentator as to why someone was penalised for not rolling away, not knowing it was part of the rules.

We use S4C for the often comedic subtitle translations it provides. We get ALBA (I've always wondered what it was) too so more games to watch.

Yeah the S4C subtitles have produced many a comedic moment :)

Happy in way but disappointed as the coverage won't be half what the Setanta coverage was.

Yeah Irish language commentary wouldn't bother me, better than no coverage at all.
