I was thinking of this when I was looking at the ''Your Countries Greatest XV'' thread by*Psychic*Duck. Basically post below what your ultimate Lions team since 1997 would be. It must be based on how they played for the Lions in a test, but just their best game and not overall. southern Hemisphere posters can post an ultimate XV of players who played against the Lions also.

1. G.Jenkins
2. K.Wood
3. T.Smith
4. J.Davidson
5. M.Johnson
6. T.Croft
7. N.Back
8. L.Dallaglio
9. R.Howley
10. S.Jones
11. S.Williams
12. J.Guscott
13. B.O'Driscoll
14. T.Bowe (Not sure couldn't think of anyone else)
15. R.Kearney

Damn, I was very eager to post my Lions XV with Francois Pienaar, Louis Ludik and Jaque Fourie....

And of course Bobo and Jantjes ;)

My Team
1. Jenkins
2. Wood
3. Jones
4. Davidson
5. Johnson
6. Croft
7. Back
8. Dallaglio
9. Dawson
10. Jones
11. Fitzgerald (just because he survived Burger also was playing well back then)
12. Gibbs
13. O'Driscoll
14. Bowe
15. Kearney/Jenkins

6 Irish players you idiot and for some reason and 5 English players in a row. Also remarkably similar to yours think before you post.

Fitzgerald ahead of Jason Robinson?
Are you on crack?

I know Neil Jenkins primarily played FB for the Lions to allow for Gregor Townsend, but I'd have him at 10

Being gouged doesn't mean you're a better player...
Fitz was quality for Lions, but Robinson was better

I just thought Fitzy was quality also as I didn't like rugby when Robinson was touring I select the one I saw live.

This is based on the 09 tour i watched and the re-runs of the 97 tour on espn classics lol. Shawsy had a ***anic performance in the second test in 09 and he would put everything on the line in a lions match.

Psychic Ducks 15 plus one! Except I would have 97 Dallaglio at 6 over Hill :)

Also how can you picking Stephen jones over JW? Are you on crack?

Where did the B&I Lions team get it's name from? What have the British and Irish got to do with Lions in any case?

Id go with that but with Jenkins instead of Lewsey at 15 and possibly Jeremy Davidson instead of POC (although would be Doddie Weir had he played in a test in 1997). Rest pretty much pick themselves.

Where did the B&I Lions team get it's name from? What have the British and Irish got to do with Lions in any case?

During the 1950 tour of New Zealand and Australia the team adopted the nickname British Lions, first used by British and South African journalists on the 1924 South African tour, after that the lion emblem on their ties, the emblem on their jerseys having been ironically dropped in favour of the four-quartered badge with the symbols of the four represented unions.

Thanks Wikipedia

Hope that helps.
