So, hot on the heels of throwing away Welsh hopes of beating the boks in bokke-land, Williams shows he has learned from his (many) previous misdemeanors and promptly gets himself sent off and Ulster capitalise to draw Saturday's game.

When are the Scarlets going to grasp the nettle and deal with his stark in-discipline?

Is Warren Gatland really going to trust this loose cannon again?

Are the general Welsh public going to defend the scrote?

Would the general Welshman or Welshwoman want to see him pull on a Welsh jersey again?

Many questions... few answers. Hopefully TRF can enlighten me a bit.

well for wales now if Halfpenny is not available even though i have a feeling since joining Toulon his form will drop apart from his kicking. but if halfpenny is not available for any off the games then im sure Gareth Anscombe will surely be 15, i would even call Lee Byrne over Liam Williams. like i was fine with him (coming from a scot) but he made to many errors now and very vital one's too. I'm sure he just isn't up for the mark and dropping him is what i want to see. I don't know what Gareth Owen is like at fullback but i would give him a chance especially with the errors that Williams is making atm.

Wait.... are you Scottish?

Anyway, he's one of the most unlikeable players to grace a rugby pitch. I remember him starting multiple fights, or involved in multiple the other season when we played them at home. & It's hardly like he makes up for it during the rest of the time when he isn't fighting or doing something idiotic.

It is clearly sarcasm.

I must be honest but I would honestly rather play Patchell, Priestland, Dirksen, Morgan, Gethin Jenkis....just anyone

At least Powell is universally known as a ****ing lad.

Can't comment too much on Williams, but if his on field persona and interviews is anything to go by he doesn't come across as the most pleasant of men.

It's a shame too, because when he isn't being an absolute **** he's a very handy player. Send him to a decent sports psychologist and see if they can't beat some of the idiot out of him would be my thinking.

Prior to the start of this season, my opinion would be that Williams is just too much of a liability to have a place in the Welsh team. It was clear that his natural all round rugby game was exceptional and that he had some serious potential, but it can't be denied that he can cost games the proof has been there for everyone to see. However this season for the Scarlets he has been brilliant all in all. If he would stop taking his admirable aggression and obvious passion that one step too far, he would have the chance to be a real star in the coming years. I don't know whether he will, as up to now he has not been able to reel that aggression in. A fine prospect regardless and his performances speak for themselves. The biggest problem for his is that he is not the only up and coming full back or winger coming through in the regions and it may come down to temperament when Gatland decides who he is going to invest in.

There aren't many other fullbacks coming through tbh.

I personally think Amos is a much better prospect though.

Williams' kicking game is a bit too inconsistent for my liking at 15, he's now ok at it, before it was a major weakness of his.

I guess what i meant was that there are plenty of other players who can play at full back, as well as coming through. On the top of my head - Morgan, Byrne, Halfpenny, Hook, J Williams, fish, Amos, Anscome (to be seen obv) etcetc. On second thought, we don't have too many out and out 15's though. One good thing is that we have a real abundance of young backs with serious pace who i think could fit the role in coming years. Our depth seems to be really strong on the wing atm, the only thing missing is international experience. Good thing that they're all young as hell.

Edit - Would agree on Williams's kicking game, probably his main weakness. But as you say, it's not terrible by any means. But he is up against Halfpenny after all. I can't see him as a long term option on the wing myself.

Really find it tough to like Liam Williams. Seems like a decent enough guy off the field but am so sick of seeing him carded. A promising attacker but I'm always terrified of what's about to happen every time he ends up as the last line of defence! If Halfpenny's fit I can't see him getting anywhere near the 15 jersey for Wales, especially with the likes of Patchell, Anscombe, Hook and Amos waiting in the wings.

Once again, Williams playing very well so far in the game against Muster. The guy is the stand out player in Wales so far this season along with Biggar. People are far too quick to write him off, if he sorts out his moments of mental collapsing, he could be absolutely class for Wales and Scarlets in time for the World cup. Not seen someone so passionate about his rugby in Wales since G Thomas. Still hope there for him i think, but it is a case of telling him that any more nonesense internationally, and he's on his way out.

Edit - On a side note, is Priestland the worst place kicker to ever play fly half? He's absolutely terrible at it.

Williams is a liability.

The thing with Williams is, he's just as likely to win you a game as he is to do something completely dull and lose you one. All depends if Gatland is willing to risk potential moments of stupidity to keep a very on form Williams in the team.
