In the brief two year history of Los Pampas XV the side has conquered the Vodacom Cup and has produced many international and professional players. Names including Agustín Creevy, Guillermo Roan, Nahuel Tetz Chaparro, Maximiliano Bustos, Agustín Figuerola, Nicolás Sánchez, Santiago Fernández, Martín Bustos Moyano and Martín Rodríguez Gurruchaga have all gone on to secure professional contracts with top level English and French sides. The number just keeping getting bigger with news that 21 year old uncapped Argentine fullback, Joaquín Tuculet, has signed a one year contract to play at the top level in England for the Sale Sharks. He joins the English giants from Club de Rugby Los Tilos in La Plata, Argentina. Tuculet was a regular in Los Pampas XV in the 2011 Vodacom Cup and was the champion sides first choice fullback throughout the campaign. The former club of Los Pumas vice captain, Juan Fernández Lobbe, are in a rebuilding phase after stuggling in the 2010-2011 season and are looking to return to the glory that saw them win the Premiership in 2006.

Capable of playing fullback or centre, Tuculet at only 21 years of age could well be starting out what could be a long professional career. He is a player who has come through the ranks of Argentine rugby. After Los Pampas XV won the Vodacom Cup, Tuculet was selected for Los Jaguares (Argentina A) for the IRB Nations Cup in Romania and was the teams fullback. Tuculet played for Argentina in the 2009 IRB Junior World Championship in Japan and featured for Los Pumitas in matches vs Fiji, Ireland, New Zealand and Uruguay as the teams fullback.

I guess Sale pulled out of signing their French based full back (Hugo Southwell) as he is crocked at the moment

Tuculet could actually have a chance of being the number one full back as the only other full back option is Nick MacLeod who has been a bench player for the main part of his career

I guess the Sale backline next year will be: (players to cover during WC period in brackets)

15. Tuculet
14. Brady
13. Burrell/Tonetti
12. Tuitupou
11. Cueto (Amesbury)
10. Lavea (MacLeod)
9. Peel (Mathie)

looks a bit weak if you ask me, and has a distinct lack of depth, one or two injuries could see a real rubbishy come in

Apparently Brady is going off to Leeds on loan as well....
I imagine Tuculet will wear the 23 shirt at first, with Miller and MacLeod taking over at 10/15 (not sure which way round though)

I know, it'll leave Addison and Amesbury for the WC, and then add on Cueto after the WC

It was printed in "The Rugby Paper" this morning, apparently, hopefully they got it wrong

What about that guy in the 7s, Bibby, was it? Might be worth a punt.

Thought MacLeod was a regular starter now for Sale? Had some very big performanced for the Blues back in the day!

Aye, I'm hoping he gets signed up to the Jets (Sales 'A' team) - Sale spotted him playing for some random team at the Manchester 7s and asked if he wanted to play for the Sale 7s team

He is - Usually at fullback, but played a fair bit of flyhalf when Charlie Hodgson was away/injured

Got to say, I'm happy with Tuculet so far!
Three tries in two appearances

Think he might be our starting 15 for the start of the season (with MacLeod at 10)
