I haven't heard anything, did the bottom SA team not have to defend their place in the competition or anything?

Non. The promo/relegation was called off. All parties have agreed that the Lions stay put in SR and the Kings will join with expansion.

The Currie cup premier division has also been expanded back to 8 from 6 and the Kings got a free pass into the top division along with 1st division champions, Mpumalanga; the Pumas.

Yes, typical SA politics.

At least now they have sort of corrected their mistakes. And now with the expansion of the Currie Cup, the Kings will get a chance to build on their progress and not just expect hand-outs the whole time.

I agree. The frustrating thing is they could've done this in the first place; give the Kings a free pass in CC premier division rather than straight into SR without a real base or assured position.
