After a massive vote last Sunday, the pro-independence parties managed to prevail in the number of seats for the Catalan Congress, although the number of votes did not reach 50%. From now begins an inevitable process of separation of Catalonia from the Kingdom of Spain, culminating in the declaration of independence in 2017.
What consequences this will bring in the rest of Europe?
It will accelerate other processes of independence, for example, Scotland, Corsica, Pais Vasco, etc?

That is like the SNP becoming the largest party in Scotland which led them to negotiating with the British Government to hold a referendum. Both sides agreed to abide by the result, it was held, and the SNP lost!

Had they won then negotiations as to how independence would come about, including constitution, currency and which assets and debt would be assumed by Scotland, would have commenced!

There would not have been a Declaration Of Independence merely an agreed date.

A DOI assumes separation without agreement and that would leave action against "rebels" may be taken by Spain I would suggest!

The problem with these sort of independances is often they are one sided ( Catalan) will they pay for their roads, their transport systems , social security etc etc like the Corsicans they want Independance from France but do not want to pay for anything Take the grants etc but France would still foot the bill for everything else, not great amounts of money to be made out of tourism (4 months a year) and Olives!!!!!!!! Spain could be much the same .

I am all for independence of minorities within larger national entities.. in part because I like the 'added flavor' they'll bring to the global political landscape, in part because I mistrust overly large entities and in part because I form part of a minority (Boer) within a larger multi-faceted structure (South Africa) that I don't necessarily fully associate with myself (for instance I despise that my tax- however miniscule a portion- goes toward supporting traditional kings, terrorists, corrupt politicians and administrators' pockets, the systematic removal of my own people's cultural heritage, racist bylaws etc etc).
