I need a TV series to get my teeth into

OK, so I've run out of hour-long tv shows to stream off the internet when I'm bored.

I've already seen the following, so don't suggest them:

the wire
generation kill
prison break before it got ****
dexter (still going on i know but once a week is not enough)
the street
into the west
band of brothers
weeds
teachers
the fixer
tribe
last man standing

What else is there that isn't ghey (eg one tree hill), shite and unfunny (scrubs), or plain uninteresting (lost, heroes...)???

also, don't suggest the amazing david attenborough series because they're specially reserved for when I'm stoned.

Might sound a little low-brow for you, but V (the new one) is shaping up alright. It's still shaping, but the potential of it is really cool. Seems to be the first rip-off I've seen with the right "rip-off/redefine" factor.

Apart from all of these i really like the office and californication, but they're not hour long

Your right though gingergenius, Prison Break got **** alright. It finshed well, if not strong, but realised that it should've had a 3 series maximum and stopped there.

House.

Start at the beginning and you've got 5 great series to enjoy.

I'd also recommend Green Wing assuming you haven't already seen it.

Is House continuous? I get the feeling it's a series of one off episodes, thats just from what little I've seen, but tell me, am I wrong? Whats it's flow and character development about?

Thar be alot of character development alright. Deals mostly with House's interpersonal realtionships. The 4th season is all about his mental state. This great!

Yeah, House.

It's kinda got that one off episodes feel (like CSI) for the first half of the first series but that's more down to getting you into the flow and getting used to the Characters (especially House) and then it really kicks off.

HOUSE!!!

Ashes to Ashes
Life on Mars
Star Trek (trust me, when it's a choice between Jeri Ryan in spandex or Jeremy Kyle, there's only one option)
House (already mentioned)
Buffy
Angel
Hustle
Ultimate Force

Have a look at band of brothers if you have'nt seen it. It's only a mini series but it's top quality.

Also Rome is very good

Right then.

Rome is well worth a look. Especially the first series.
House is brilliant. I dont watch TV much but this is one I definately download as its released. Highly recommend it.
The WestWing I presume youve watched em. If not off you go.

As for more recent ones. I'd have to say I'm a fan of Criminal Minds. I have no time fo CSI, Bones, Without a Trace etc but this show is a lot smarter then your average 45 mins of drivel.

One of my favourite ones over the last few years was Entourage. The first four series were excellent and Ari Gold is one of the best charachters Ive seen realised on TV

All except for Rome is "Wife Friendly" though Entourage pushes it a bit.

House is okay.
The seasons tend to only pick up at the end though, with the exception of three and four, which both have tremendous opening episodes. Five and six are taking it in a less interesting direction.

Just to reiterate everyone else, House is a must see. It's got to be watched in series though, otherwise it may seem like one off episodes like C A Iversen suggested. The last two episodes of season four are the best two hours of tv I've ever seen, better than any film due to the relationship built up with the characters over the past 86 hours of watching.

I've managed to get my entire family hooked on this show. Introduced it to my Mum and Dad last christmas, now she asks me to bring any new episodes with my every time I visit. My sister has now bought the first 3 seasons after watching it with us at my parents house, and my brother grabs all he can off me.

Another series I can highly recomment is Battlestar Galactica (the new version). Not atall as geeky as it sounds, nothing like Star Trek etc. I still watch Heroes, and it seems to be picking up again in the fourth season. I also stopped watching Prison Break after the very poor second series.

Green Wing was awesome, pitty they made just the one series. I always enjoyed Scrubs aswell, although a couple of the characters did start getting on my nerves.

I've bought the first series of Spooks, as I enjoyed the couple of one off episodes I saw on tv, but haven't had time to start them yet. Just got the first two seasons of Dexter to watch aswell.

So yeah, House!!!! Wish I was back in your situation again, with soo much great tv ahead of you.

Haven't seen True Blood mentioned anywhere, i've been very pleasantly surprised with how good it is
