Harlequins have agreed a deal to sign Western Force prop Tim Fairbrother for next season.

The 29-year-old New Zealand-born tighthead will make the move from Perth at the end of the current season.

Fairbrother, who has previously played Super Rugby for the Hurricanes, has been on the fringes of the Australia squad after taking part in a number of Wallabies scrum sessions.

However he has been overlooked for the national side despite impressing with his work rate and leadership.

And Fairbrother is now looking to further his career in the Aviva Premiership with Quins.

"I have really enjoyed my time in Perth, it was the right decision for me to come across and I feel as though now is the right decision to test myself in another competition after nine seasons in Super Rugby," said Fairbrother.

Fairbrother added he still held high hopes for the Force this season despite Saturday's 51-16 loss to the Stormers.

"We have a great bunch of guys at the club and working together we can definitely have an impact in the competition this year," Fairbrother said ahead of their home derby with the unpredictable Melbourne Rebels.

"The result against the Stormers was not a reflection on how good we can be and we're all looking forward to getting out onto the field again on Saturday against the Rebels and getting back to our best."

Haven't seen him play much but hopefully he'll do well here.

Amazing that Australia failed to play him in at least one test match given their scrum woes ... they usually snap up eligible New Zealanders pretty quick ... anyway, good luck to Tim at Quins

Yeah I too was surprised he wasn't capped for the Aussie's - he may not be the most mobile prop, but he is pretty solid in the scrum.
