Hadden gone

Frank Hadden has stepped down as Scottish coach according to a statement on the SRU website.

Lineen seems the obvious favourite, no doubt Robinson will also be in contention as well.

Sean Lineen and Andy Robinson would be obvious choices since both seem to be doing decent jobs with Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively. Ian McGeechan would be a good choice but it would be interesting to see what would happen if he got the job after selecting very few Scots for the Lions - in essence he'd be coaching a squad he didn't deem to be strong enough.

As for outside bets, Jake White's name will pop up. Pat Howard would be a great option. Pierre Berbizier turned an average Italy squad into a competitive unit. Steve Bates has turned a corner with Newcastle and previously coached Borders. Would Dean Richards fancy an international coaching gig?

This pleases me.
Hadden did the best he could, we could have had worse.
I want Jake White or Geech :(

I'm not sure whether it has been posted on this website but there have been a lot of (unsubstantiated) rumours that Geech is on his way out of Wasps at the end of the season with Dean Ryan primed to replace him. There was word that Geech was to take charge of London Scottish but I'm sure the full Scotland gig would be far more appealing to him.

As I said above, it's just a rumour though.

I've heard Matt Williams has thrown his hat into the ring...
