Andy Goode has called out Wasps teammate Christian Wade for failing to show at a charity event. According to Goode on Twitter, the winger had agreed to show but then reneged due to being “too tiredâ€.
The event was in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation, a charity whose purpose is “Inspiring and supporting young people seriously injured through sportâ€. Hampson is a former England U21 international and Leicester Tigers player who became paralysed from the neck down due to a freak accident during England training ten years ago.
Goode will leave Wasps at the end of the season for London Irish which is probably why he’s not worried about burning bridges with his current teammate.

Calling him out on Twitter is classless. If he had an issue with it he should have done it in private with Wade and sorted it. Nothing good can come of this at all bar Wade's name being smeared. I don't know Wade's side of the story so I won't comment on that. It's poor form if he was just too lazy to show up but you don't hang a teamate or anyone for that matter out to dry on twitter regardless.

i guess it depends on a few things really, normally no, you'd keep ti in house, but what if Wade regularly lets down his team mates at events etc... I can understand they might then think enough is enough and public shame him (not saying that's what's happened just presenting a scenario).

Also i'd imagine the HamboFoundation is quite close to Goodes heart being an ex-tiger and all that...

No doubt it's natural he feels really strongly about the organisation, which is brilliant. Goode is a guy I admire a great deal, but there is no positive outcome from firing shots on Twitter for anyone involved.

Interesting that Marler RT it.

Maybe Goode told him in private (Which he said he did) and Wade answered in a off way.

I know Goode is very passionate about the trust (Were Leicester team mates pretty much) and helped organise the event.

once again the power of social media blows up in someones face when will these people learn, descretion is always a better value!!!

Goode seems like rather an angry (not so) young man at the moment, I'm sure this isn't the first Tweet of his that I've seen make headlines recently. His replies to some of the comments that he got don't exactly ooze class or maturity either.

In Wade's defence, I would have hope that AP players are monitored for signs of over-training. If he was such exhibiting signs, then I can make my peace with his decision and would argue that in an instance like this (with plenty of other players attending) he made the professional choice.

Not particularly great to bring it all out so publicly, really.
Then again, not particularly great to drop out of a charity event last minute. I'm imagining Goode means tired = couldn't really be bothered rather than any over training or anything.

Players from Wasps went there, and from Sale - it's not like it was only guys from the Midlands that rocked up as it didn't inconvenience them.

Goode really does love a twitter rant, though, and is more than happy to answer anyone who calls him on it/slings abuse at him.

Goode has always had a bit of an ego hence why he thrived at Leicester at the time he was here.

But when you look at his time at saracens (with a bit of inside info and now prob common knowledge with what happened) you know it can certainly cause issues.

he also made the rather classless comment about Clancy getting given a world cup reffing position - and then got into a bit of "banter" with people who called him out...

To be fair the majority of the comments seem to revolve around him being fat.

If Wade dropped out of going when he agreed to and was supposed to show face and represent the charity, then that's not cool. (Unless there's a reason not being given. If Wade was depressed, for example, I'd be sympathetic here.)

But if he dropped out as an attendant after agreeing with team mates to going, then whatever. It's his private life.

Goode, on the other hand... that's just not on.

Thanks gN10, the Clancy comment was the one I had heard recently.

Bit sad that people resort to "bantering" about his weight......at least have a pop at his barnet while you're at it! :D

seems a bit scripted- think his agent had taken control of the situation there.
I think Goode needs to delete his twitter account before he finds himself in deep water, first the referee comment, then the Lee Dickson episode and now this. If true, it's disappointing, but to irreversibly smear Wades' name through the mud is not fair- not going to do much for team spirit/PR either. I bet Dai Young is furious.

True, the writing style doesn't match up with previous tweets, although to be fair to him, maybe he's writing properly as the subject is a more serious one.

The more I think about Andy Goode, the more angry it makes me (warning, overreaction to follow) - how can a rugby player who lacks the intelligence or self control to own a Twitter account get the maximum benefit out of training and analysis sessions and be relied upon to be cool headed on the rugby field?

Right message, wrong platform. If it's true that Christian Wade backed out of his commitment, that's poor form. I don't think airing your dirty laundry on social media is the best way to go about making your point though. To Wade's credit, at least he didn't respond directly to Andy Goode's comment.

If Wade said he'd go, then he should have gone, but equally he's a professional athlete, feeling tired can easily mean an entirely different thing for them.

It doesn't look like it was a case that he was a special guest though, just one of a number of players turning up at a pub/restaurant.

Regardless, it shouldn't have been put online for everyone to see. The end of Goode message is particularly irksome for me. Telling Wade off, OK, don't agree with doing it publicly, but fine. Stating "Bad culture and no trust" starts to sound like it refers to more than just Wade, but even if it's just Wade it's taking it from a telling off to a "I don't like you and never have." sort of deal.

Goode's off, is under pressure from Loz, and he probably doesn't care who he pees off.

Jackson is back in training now too, so potentially his place in the match day squad itself is under pressure.

However, this is a guy who's seemingly interested in coaching in the future (and apparently a very skilled analysis of defences), he's potentially going to be looking to get the signature of some of these guys, and he's had similar experiences/run-ins at a few clubs now I believe.
