Glasgow host the defending champions in their first home game of the season, and will be looking to make a statement of intent by taking a major scalp early on. With plenty of talent in the backs, Glasgow will look to play an expansive game (hopefully) and take it to Munster from the word go.

Munster, while deprived of several of their Lions, will still be strong, such is the two time European Champions strength on depth. It would be nice to see the impressive Fionn Carr handed his first Munster Cap while Paul Warwick can be expected to pull the strings from ten.

Glasgow will be looking to avenge their 13-26 defeat last year and will feel that they may never get a better shot to topple the champions. Squads, as always, announced later in the week.

well a lot of the personnel will be similar to what took the field last year so maybe not as great a chance for Glasgow to get the win. Will be interesting to see how Cussiter goes this season, that's a cracking signing for them.

If anyone in Glasgow is up for going to this give me a shout because I am more than willing to go.

I really do hope that Glasgow can pull this off, with most of Munster's squad weakened. It's always nice to see someone beat Munster.

Feicarsinn, pressure must be getting to you. another name mistake.

Fionn Carr I'm sure you know is the Connacht wing who got plenty of magners league caps last year...

We want to see the impressive Felix Jones handed his first Magners League cap. And I think he willbecayse he apparantly scored an amazing solo try against Leicester in the friendly on Friday and the Leicester fans were all like 'woe....wow, that was like BAM! Who is this guy?"

********. Was thinking of him for he Connacht thread. If only I was a mod then I could edit it. Nudge nudge.

Will Felix be getting a game? Rumour has it he's had a good pre-season. Would love to see him play a bit as I have high hopes for him.

Apparantly he ripped Leicester a new hole...and then we lost. So hopefully himself and/or Scott Deasy get a start. Getting really curios about the starting lineup now. Hope they release it today. I suspect Deasy will get the go ahead at centre. Especially if Warwick is injured, because Deasy showed in a couple of matches that he's a good place kicker. He's starting to look a bit like Fergus McFadden. Except hopefully he'll make the breakthrough to Magners League level quicker than McFadden did.

And for show those who do not know the extent to which this munster side is weakened, I shall list those who will be missing:

(2) Jerry Flannery, (injury)
(3) Darragh Hurley, (injury)
(4) Donnocha O'Callaghan, (lions)
(5) Paul O'Connell, (lions)
(6) Alan Quinlan, (suspension)
(7) David Wallace, (lions)
(8) Nick Williams, (injury)
(9) Tomas O'Leary (injury)
(10) Ronan O'Gara, (lions)
(11) Ian Dowling, (injury)

(13) Keith Earls, (lions)
(14) Ciaran O'Boyle, (injury)
(15) Paul Warwick. (injury...but he might make it)

That's 13 players, and as you see, 2 players short of a starting line-up that could would be well capable of winning most Magners League matches during the year.

but if the right team is picked I think we can come out of this with a bonus point or even a win. Especially if the preseason form continues.

15. F Jones;
14. D Howlett,
13. T Gleeson,
12. L Mafi,
11. D Hurley;
10. J Manning,
9. P Stringer;
1. M Horan,
2. D Fogarty,
3. T Buckley;
4. M O'Driscoll capt,
5. D Ryan;
6. B Holland,
7. N Ronan,
8. D Leamy.

Replacements: D Varley, J Brugnaut, T O'Donnell, J Coughlan, T Morland, S Deasy, B Murphy.

It's an alright team but not a great team. Surprised that Deasy isn't starting ahead of Gleason seeing as Manning isn't always relaible with the boot and Deasy can kick.

I'm not a big fan of Billy Holland either but besides that it's not a bad side.

Good to see that their sticking with making Hurley a wing. far better off there

Interesting Munster selection. I'm slightly surprised that Tom Gleeson has been picked ahead of Barry Murphy and Scott Deasy (who has supposedly been very impressive in preseason. I must be the only Leinster fan who rates Murphy as a decent player (albeit as a winger rather than a centre)! Tommy O'Donnell is a player I've heard a lot of good reports about. Hopefully he'll get meaningful gametime to prove his worth.

Glasgow Warriors: Bernardo Stortoni, Rob Dewey, Peter Murchie, Graeme Morrison, Thom Evans; Dan Parks, Chris Cusiter; Jon Welsh, Dougie Hall, Moray Low, Tim Barker, Alastair Kellock (capt), Kelly Brown, John Barclay, Johnnie Beattie.
Replacements: Pat MacArthur, Kevin Tkachuk, Dan Turner, Richie Vernon, Mark McMillan, Ruaridh Jackson, Colin Shaw.

Is Andrew Burke injured? I know Deasy can play out half, but the odds of our poor little fragile Jeremy lasting 80 minutes are slim, I'd prefer an actual 10 on the bench.

Snoopy, I think Gleeson was picked ahead of Murphy because of his size, he is the biggest centre available, and seeing as Glasgow have Morrison's and Dewey's a bit of bulk might be required in the backline, and we don't want those mean Scots breaking our Baz either.

Prediction wise, this is a classic first game of the season encounter. Munster have better players, Glasgow at home, could go either way.

Buckley can't play for Ireland. Can't scrummage and we learned what can happen when you're scrum is under pressure during the Lions.

all the more surprising that Glasgow went for the posts instead of taking another scrum, poor decision making then.

Well that was a shambles. Brugnaut looked good when he came on though. Problem was with a lightwait backrow. Leamy the only one string enough untill O'Donnell came on.

Holland not good enough. Manning kicked well but he's a poor decision maker. Mafi needs to be at second centre.

Back three were the only ones that did particularly well.

Glasgow took their chances well though
