What is Lelo?

Lelo is ancient game played in Georgia. It was mentioned in 12th century but some scholars say that Lelo was played since BC.

Lelo ball was played between 2 villages, ball weight 16 kg, men from both villages play the game. Goal was to take the ball by force in the village.

in 1882 Lelo ball attracted 1500 footmen and 500 horsemen participants.

Man who carried ball in the chaos to the village was rewarded (Ball become his property). It was prestigious to own the Lelo ball.
