Blues lock Ali Williams has suffered a fresh injury blow in his quest to reclaim his All Blacks place ahead of this year's Rugby World Cup.
The 29-year-old, on the comeback trail after two serious Achilles injuries, limped out of the Blues' Super Rugby clash with the Western Force in Perth on Saturday night with a hamstring injury and is set to be sidelined for a month.
"Four weeks is the outlook rather than the whole season," coach Pat Lam told ONE Sport. "When he went down there was that sort of worry or concern, but it was a hamstring."
The big second rower, capped 61 times by New Zealand, has been cursed with injury over the last two years and prepared for the Super Rugby season with the Blues by playing a handful of games earlier this season for English Championship side Nottingham.
Lam also revealed that his players were disappointed with the result against the Force and captain Keven Mealamu called a team only meeting after the match. "Certainly Kevy was pretty frustrated as a captain, we all saw the work that he put into it, and he has asked the others to step up, Lam said."
The Blues have will arrive back in Auckland on Sunday and have a short turnaround before taking the Hurricanes at Eden Park on Saturday.
