Am I the only person who would like the lions tour to be televised on free view? All the other big rugby things are on it (6 nations , World Cup, Hong Kong sevens etc..)

I did a bit of research. The reason most big sporting events appear on Free TV is because they are required to by law. In Australia it works in a way that Free TV stations have the first bid at a big event, but if they can't show it live then cable channels can buy the rights.

I think this is your list in England: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ofcom_Code_on_Sports_and_Other_Listed_and_Designated_Events
This is Australia's list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-siphoning_laws_in_Australia

As you can see, there is no mention of the B&I Lions tour. Only the rugby world cup final!

Should Free TV have the rights? That is a good question. I think it would mean less money from TV rights, but I imagine it wouldn't be too damaging. At the end of the day I suppose I don't really have an opinion, as our Free TV stations are farking useless pieces of crap in Australia and they hate rugby union. In England though, you guys have the BBC and a large population that likes rugby.

I think everyone would like it to, but as long as Sky puts up the big money it won't happen.

Doesn't it have summit to do with the income of the club like football matches are normally on sky because the club gets a percentage of what sky makes from subscriptions from that game

Yes, but a big thing requires big cash to happen - how do you think they fund it?
TV deals, sponsorship etc.
