England vs Australia

Looking forward to this, I reckon there's a decent chance this could be a close game in the end but I expect that the Aussies will have way too much for us. If we play anything like we did in the second half at Wigan it should be a good close game though.

Think I might go, not decided yet.

England were two different teams during that game, depends on which one turns up and whether you can pile on some points early, get the crowd into the game.

Really wish i could see this, but lack of funds =/

Going to be a great game, hopefully we can cause a bit of upset (whether by winning or just getting very close).
I don't think many/any expected the result we got against NZ, so hopefully, coming off the back of that, we can go into this with a little confidence, and make a good go of it

Having said all that, i wouldn't bet against Australia to win

I'm watching it now, its 16-22 Austalia with about 20 to play, it's close but I think Australia are going to finish stronger than us.

Edit: 16 - 28, 14 to play.

Edit 16 - 34, 12 to play

ROFL

Here comes the collapse.

Can someone tell me again why they decided to do away with Great Britain?

One of the most baffling decisions in world sport. That and letting Rugby League people decide how to run Competitions without having an adult present at all times.

46-16, 4 to play

you couldnt make it up

This is like watching jermain taylor in the 12th round.

Boxing fans will know what i'm talking about.

well, it's all over at 16-46 from Australia.

England can hang with the best for 50 minutes, but after that the legs go and it's all one way traffic.

The scoreline was unfair, but in that last 20 it was one way traffic.

How the hell is that though? If these players who come from the action and explosion packed Superleague can't keep going for more than 50 minutes then whats going wrong?!

I have no ides, the conditioning just isn't there, 20 minutes to go and they were all running around on shaky legs while Australia just got their second wind.

I don't know how it happens, might be too many pukka pies and pints of mild.

Disappointing to watch, i thought we were in with a chance of at least coming within a try or so, but to concede 6/7 in the last quarter was a bit poo

Ouch.

After having nearly thrown my pint glass at the screen watching the Union, how refreshing it was to see a match with creativity. I was glued to the screen for an hour. Cracking match, with England's forwards bashing it up, Burgess running wonderful lines and Eastmond causing problems.

Then, the most talented group of players in any code of football anywhere in the world got on top. I'm talking Australia 1-7. And you know what... I was still glued to the screen. What they are capable of producing is phenomenal. England's backline lacks real pace. Australia's has an abundancy. Our backline lacks precision with its kicking. Some of the kicks Australia scored from were unreal. What's more... finishing. They are, to a man, true athletes.

Greg Inglis has been watching too many martial arts flicks, and he's mastered the art of moving around without having his feet on the ground. We saw it with that freakish Gasnier try a few years back. And once more with today's finish from Hayne's incredible break/ kick. Now, Billy Slater's learnt the same trick.

I challenge anyone to name me a set of individuals quite as skillful and athletic in any sport. I can only hope these guys are around next time Australia come up here, because I desperately want to see them live.

You say that when Ireland's lads trounce Australia at home and away in the International Rules games...

What's that got to do with Thurston, Lockyer, Inglis, Hodges, Hayne, Slater and Morris (rugby league players from Australia) playing against other rugby league players from elsewhere, at rugby league and not only dominating them, but looking like they are playing the game perfectly when they do it?

The Kilkenny senior hurlers. Greatest team to ever grace the field of competitive sport. We truly are witnessing something quite remarkable over here with these boys. I'd post videos but the point is lost if the video quality isn't 100%.

Don't really know where you are coming from, but for the record the International Rules series was about even before they did away with it. The current Australian rugby league side is sublime, would love to see what they would do to opposition backlines in union.

I'm disappointed with the scoreline and the last 15 minutes of the game. I am going to write a bit of a blog, detailing my thoughts, but in no way did England deserve a 30 point loss.

I would suggest not much considering the acres of space a league attack has in comparison. Plus, 1 tackle and they'd be turned over .

What I meant was if they were rugby union players from the outset. Their skill set transferred to the game of rugby would be a sight to see. The backs I'm talking about.

Saw the highlights yesterday and thought it was a cracking game for the neutral, plenty of tries and some scintillating play. Score was harsh on England as they played far, far better than the scoreline suggested.
