ELR has damaged his knee and needs surgery on it and will probably be out for the rest of the season :(

Brewer is looking to bring in someone from the Currie Cup/ITM to cover for him (players who don't have Super15 contracts)

He's also said he wants to bring in a backrower, probably from the SH, specificall SA.
Willem Alberts is strongly rumored to be making his way to sunny stockport...which i wouldn't be too upset about :p

Big blow for Eifion Lewis-Roberts, was hoping he had got fitter and would be pushing for a Wales squad place this season.

So that's Sales' scrum knackered for the remainder of the season.

surely here is where the iRB should be putting forward Islanders/ Romanians/ Canadians etc. to join clubs in top leagues to improve their lot a la Argentina, rather than more Saffers and Kiwis.

Oh, I see what you did there...

The IRB have nothing to do with the clubs though, how would they "allocate" players?

Would a grant scheme work? Sign a player from a tier 2 or 3 country and we'll pay part of their wages for the first year. Such a system could easily be open to abuse though.

Be a way of ensuring players from Tier 2 - 3 nations get exposure to a good standard of rugby.

Still wouldn't work as there are already the "foreign players" rules, while the maximum squad size ruling will probably be in place by the start of next term.

It would probably make more sense performance wise also. If an NZ player can't land any of the what, 160 odd spots available in the NZ super rugby teams, then they probably aren't up to playing in the premiership either..
There are exceptions to the rule though i guess.

Surely Stephen Jones' love child Andrew Sheridaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan can single handedly destroy opponents scrums? Or maybe not........
He's already fallen out of favour for his dire performance against Saracens,
I hope Aston Croall takes Roberts' spot, he's not as poweful in the loose as Sheridan, but much better in the scrum, which is what comes first for a prop
